Cold War Transmissions Lyrics
Side by side we face each other
Standing here alone together
Your code ill break, you made your last mistake
Called out cold war
Remnants now on the floor
This is Russian radio here
Calling you to come back home
This is Russian radio here
Run while you still can
Different sides we take our stance
this could be our last goodbye forever
Your spies come clean, they told me everything
Your moves I make, penance the fire drake
And if this is our last goodbye
let me kiss your lips of red tonight
and walk the other way
Run away, run away
This is our last, this is our last goodbye
Standing here alone together
Your code ill break, you made your last mistake
Called out cold war
Remnants now on the floor
Calling you to come back home
This is Russian radio here
Run while you still can
this could be our last goodbye forever
Your spies come clean, they told me everything
Your moves I make, penance the fire drake
let me kiss your lips of red tonight
and walk the other way
Run away, run away
This is our last, this is our last goodbye

I think its about a relationship were the arguments were silent but hurt hearts.
It sounds like he says "This is my ship, radio... calling you to come back home." even though it's not. But I often thought that's what he was saying until I looked it up. It makes much more sense. More silent treatment sort of things going on, it seems like, but he knows maybe using the "russian cold war threat" metaphor, that perhaps he himself is dangerous. The cold war was when both America and Russia were on edge and ready to strike, but knew it was impossible because either way they'd get hit and get damaged. So in this metaphor, he may mean that both of these people in this relationship are having some bumps in the road, and both want to say something but can't for fear of getting hurt, so he says "Run while you still can" calling out for her to either come back to him and fix things, as in, start talking again sort of thing, or dump him before things get worse. The end.
okay. sot his si pretty cool. I had a english assignment to do about a song that I listened to and it seemed to have a "deeper meaning" andI chose this song. because of "penance the fire drake". Then I realized that I needed to knwot he definiton. so I looked it up Penance means either sacrfice for sin or worship. and Fire Drake menas either fire breathing dragon or fire breathing duck. So that whole line means worship the firs breathing dragon/duck. I decided i wanted to find out the REAL meaning behind that and I asked stephen in the letter "pennence the fire drake comes from one of my favorite william shakespere stories. i wanted other people to explore poetry in that stage of my life so i kind of slipped that into the song." yea pretty cool huh? I never really realized how awesome anberlin is. I am learning so much about them. Everyone else should too! they. are. the. shizz. okay. sorry. I just thought It is really cool stephen replied ack ya know. them being my favorite band and all. . .

It only says here in the chorus on the last one.
"This song is about playing my little brother Tim in the board game risk, hence ‘remnants’, his game pieces, end up on the floor. I always try to get conquer Russia first (never ever take Europe). ‘penance the fire drake’ is a Shakespeare reference." - Stephen Christian Anberlinlyrics.tumblr.com June 2014
