Price To Play Lyrics
Fail to see
How destructive we can be (can be)
Taking without giving back
Til the damage can be seen
Can you see, Can you see
The more you take
The more you blame
But everything still feels the same
The more you hurt, the more you scream
The price you pay to play the game
And all you see, and all you gave
And all you step on with no shame
There are no rules, no one, no blame
The Price to Play the game
Apathy, the chosen way to be
Blindly look the other way
while you waste away with me
Can you see, can you see
The more you take
The more you blame
But everything still feels the same
The more you hurt, the more you scream
The price you pay to play the game
And all you see, and all you gave
And all you step on with no shame
There are no rules, no one, no blame
The price you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
WHAT YOU PLAY TO PLAY THE GAME
The more you take
The more you blame
But everything still feels the same
The more you hurt, the more you scream
The price you pay to play the game
And all you see, and all you gave
And all you step on with no shame
There are no rules, no one, no blame
The price to play the game...
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game...
How destructive we can be (can be)
Taking without giving back
Til the damage can be seen
Can you see, Can you see
The more you blame
But everything still feels the same
The more you hurt, the more you scream
And all you see, and all you gave
And all you step on with no shame
There are no rules, no one, no blame
The Price to Play the game
Blindly look the other way
while you waste away with me
Can you see, can you see
The more you blame
But everything still feels the same
The more you hurt, the more you scream
The price you pay to play the game
And all you see, and all you gave
And all you step on with no shame
There are no rules, no one, no blame
The price you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
WHAT YOU PLAY TO PLAY THE GAME
The more you blame
But everything still feels the same
The more you hurt, the more you scream
The price you pay to play the game
And all you see, and all you gave
And all you step on with no shame
There are no rules, no one, no blame
The price to play the game...
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game...

No comments yet? This song is pretty good, but not the best on the new album, which surprisingly isn't a downer. I never thought that Staind could top Break The Cycle, but they just did with 14 Shades Of Grey, because Aaron Lewis is not as self-involved as he was before. This song is so straightforward, as is most of Staind's songs, that there is no need to explain what it means.
Ok, I'll give my opinion on the song. I think it's an attack on those who are apathetic and self-centered enough to get what they want, even at other people's expense. But when I saw the video, it could also have been about domestic abuse or people blindly going through life, and Lewis telling them to open their eyes to the pain in this world.
Of course, no comment of mine would be complete without a Bible verse: John 13:34,35 - (Jesus says) "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."
Wow, nice review MegaMadMan, I feel the same way you do; there's no real rules to life, some of us do whatever it takes to get our way, not worry about how it's going to affect us, or who we will hurt along the way. That's the price we pay to play the game (of life)
Yeah I agree MegaMadMan, I think all of us have run into this before. As with life there are always paths to take, but it seems like some are like black holes, neverending paths of self-destruction within our own delusions.
"The more you take The more you blame But everything still feels the same The more you hurt, the more you scream"
If you pity yourself (which I have done myself too many times) and blame everyone else for your life, you will never feel better. All you'll do is swim in that sea of sorrow endlessly.
So I think Aaron is basically saying what you put into life is what you get out of it. I think when he says "the price you pay to play the game" it could be one of two things. Sure, it can be bad, for those who are self-destructive will pay with a life of chaos. But for those who put life into things, who live by their heart, they may pay early on, but in the end it is those people who will rise above all.
This meaning has a lot of my personal views within it. And I think saroknight is right, it is pretty straight forward. Right now my gf works about 70 hours a week and has hardly anytime to sleep. Though I feel very badly for her, I really have to not let myself be self-absorbed in my pity for her. Otherwise it will damage us both.
A comment about the new record....dont most songs on 14 SOG sound like or remind you of "Suffer" off BTC
no i think they sound the oposite mostly.Mostly
did any1 watch WWE raw wen mick foley had a tribute and staind was playin in the background, coz u plz tell me wat song it was. thank u in advance
I THINK It's about the price you pay for you mistakes. What you face when you make them!
i think the song is about taking risks in the game of life. when you take a risk and fuck up, stuff starts to go wrong, and thats the price you pay.
I think it's saying that society is selfish and screwed up. And you pay a certain cost just being born into it. "Everything still feels the same" means that a lot of things we do to try and be happy don't get to the root of the problem.
today was the first time i heard this song. its not that good
