You dont know what youve put me trough
Its okay, ive forgiven you
But in some way, hope it fucks with you
Hope it fucks with you
/Pre-Chorus/
That im okay and ive made it trough
But whos to say what your going trough
Ill say no names, though ive wanted to
Isnt it strange how it seems like..
/Chorus/
yesterday, a boy and already afraid
Locked deep inside, my place to hide
To hide from how you made me feel
And i wonder hows your brother
Did he end up fucked up like me?
Lost in himself, crying for help
Its safe to say
I learned to live without a pride
Just a shell, with me stuck inside
A prison, not a place to hide
Not a place to hide
/Pre-Chorus/
/Chorus/
Yesterday, a boy and already afraid
Locked deep inside, my place to hide
To hide from how you made me feel
And i wonder hows your brother
Did he finally pull trough like me?
Finding himself, not needing help
Id like to say
Its okay, ive forgiven you
But in some way, hope it fucks with you
Hope it fucks with you
That im okay and ive made it trough
But whos to say what your going trough
Ill say no names, though ive wanted to

Anyone who's ever been mistreated, especially as a child, can relate to this song. I've had my share of bullies and tormenters but probably the worst was my kindergarten teacher...yes, my teacher. the woman who was supposed to be teaching me and helping me along, apparently found it was more fun to single me out and humiliate me at every turn. If I made a mistake, she pointed it out to the whole class, encouraging them to laugh at me. She even called me stupid. One time, I needed to use the restroom badly, but she wouldn't let me go, so...well...i pissed myself. And just a whole bunch other shit she put me through. I was finally taken out of her class. She was supposedly reprimanded (sp?) but I assume because of politics, she was able to keep her job. I was put in a much better teacher's class, but the damage was done. I've never really recovered from her abuse, though, i'm doing better now than I ever have. Unlike Aaron, I haven't been able to forgive my tormenter yet, but I do hope it fucks with her, and I think there's a chance it might. Her two "perfect" sons, one's in prison for murder and the other's a loser druggie, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't get some satisfaction from that. So, anyway, thats my story.
I am so grateful to Aaron Lewis for making music that lets people like me that we're not alone. I'm forever a Staind fan.
This song reminds me of the movie "The Butterfly Effect" I'm surprised some Youtube fanatic hasn't already Made a little video for it I'd do it myself But I'm technologically challenged
This song's AWESOME. It can mean whatever you want it to mean, but for me, it's me and my ex-girlfriend. She fucked me up somethin' fierce, dude. I guess I've sorta forgiven her, but still bitter. This song's all about how you've put your past away, but you still want what they did to you to come back and bite them in the ass.
pressplay, I think it's just him talking to the person and trying to tell them that they have that affect on that people. They fucked him up, and they're going to do it to others. Aaron used a brother I think simply cuz it rhymed well internally with "wonder."
Fantastic song. I love the opening drum beat.
Your supposed to treat your fellow man like they were ur brother, someone bullied Aaron when he was young, so now he's wondering if the bully tormented his own brother the same way
I feel its a song about putting your past away and letting the deamons in your mind free and forgiving the people that have made you feel that way but still feeling some hostility towards them
He's forgiven people, but in a sense also hopes karma comes back and messes with 'em. He also talks about how he was tormented and picked on when he was young.
I also think this song is also for us, his fans, he's wondering how we're making out and doing in our lives if we've been following him along the way, he's found help in his life though music and his personal expressions, and hopes that we are finding therapy in his music; a thank you song to his fans!
My personal note to Staind - Thanks, Aaron ... for being there for me, when others' didn't understand and care, you've helped me realize life is worth living no matter what curveballs life throws at us, if you survived though your ordeals then I certainly can.
Looks like Aaron sees two types of people in this world, those who try with all their hearts, the ones who peel away their pride, and want nothing more then to love.
And then there are those who are self-absorbed and uncaring only because they've decided that they can take others for granted and steal their life away. Causing others to suffer so that they feel better.
I love how Staind is sooo upfront with their lyrics.
"And i wonder hows your brother Did he end up fucked up like me?"
Stating that through the suffering and the pain of decided to do good in life, other people will fuck you up. But at the same time you know that all this pain has made us so much stronger. So he realizes there are others like him, and one person is this person's brother. That maybe he hints this person is causing all this pain all around him, making scapegoats around everyone.
I love it because those who try so hard and follow their heart are the scared ones when they are young. We are the ones who get tormented and we have to recede within ourselves to a better place (our dreams). But now as he grow up, we become stronger and our dreams start to filter into the world through the very pores in our skin.
Karma is true, it is the very thing that weighs heavy on us. But just remember, it takes longer to affect the uncaring ones, because karma is based on how much we focus on the things we've done. But that is why those people are so damaging to themselves. They go unnoticing and uncaring until it swells up into a large rock. The weight gets to be too heavy.
Its About how Aaron has finally pulled through in his life but still looks back to the dark days in his life , as if they were only yesterday
I think its about hiding within ur own head, been able to lock urself away and hide from your deamons. this is exactly what ive gone through since my dad died when i was 12. 16 now and still am hiding away cos i nt got alot left. so again i thnk Aaron Lewis for this song like Nameless76. STAIND ROCK AND THIS SONG IS THE BEST ON 14 SHADES O GREY
Ash999 is right about this being Grey's best track. Awesome drum tabs and intro. i love the way aaron points a finger at this person that we've all come across, and then shoots them down in the last chorus. Way to stand up to the Man!
