Fight Fire With Fire Lyrics

There's a hole in the wall
With a light shining in
And it's letting me know to get up
It's time to begin

Oh there is nothing to lose
'Cause it's already lost
In a runaway world
Of confusion
I'm gonna take it

(Chorus)
That's why I fight fire with fire
Oh I'm burning inside and my heart is a-cryin'
Fire with fire
I don't want to lose this flamin' desire
Standing alone
In a crowded room
I can feel a chill in the air
I'm shakin'

I'm miles away
I want to cry out loud
I want to fight till the end
I won't let 'em take me alive

(Chorus)
And you know I'll fight fire with fire
Oh I'm burning inside and my heart is a-cryin'
Fire with fire
'Cause I'm never gonna lose this flamin' desire

great song! think its about war

Oh there is nothing to lose 'Cause it's already lost In a runaway world Of confusion I'm gonna take it

@hossynossy4 You're absolutely correct. It is about war and surviving during a war or surviving any kind of major challenge. I was a pro bowler for 10 years. I've won over 50 scratch tournaments in my 47 years of bowling. I listen to this song in my car at times on the way to tournaments.

I have a very unique interpretation of this song. This is my all time favorite Kansas song and one of my favorites of all time. I see the lyrics as about stalking/being violent towards your ex following a bitter breakup. Here's a breakdown: "There's a hole in the wall with a light shining in/Letting me know to get up, time to begin." The whole in the wall is the window and the light is the morning sun. He is depressed about the breakup and he doesn't want to get out of bed, but he has to because of work/school.
"There's nothing to lose/Its already lost." means that since the relationship ended already it won't hurt you in any way to be violent to her. You won't lose anything for being violent because you've already lost her. "Standing alone in a crowded room/feel the chill in the air." means that you are in a classroom/workroom with other people but you feel lonely and cold due to the breakup. "Fight Fire With Fire" means fight the heartbreak, or "fire" of the breakup with equally harmful stalking/violence, which will feel good in the moment but ultimately won't help your situation or "put out the fire," hence the title "Fight Fire With Fire," because obviously putting fire onto fire may seem good at 1st but won't put it out. "Flaming Desire" is the desire to get revenge on the ex by stalking/being violent toward her. That is my interpretation of the song. Have a great day!

Then why post here for a song you dislike? Go post on Metallica's page.

@AquilaCat I agree with you. Post a derogatory comment about the song on the Metallica page. Kansas has been around in the Rock n Roll industry 15 years longer than Metallica and they're a classic Rock band. Metallica is a Heavy Metal Band 2 different types of music. Metallica is great band but,if it wasn't for Kansas there would never be a Metallica!!

This my all-time favorite Rock song. I'm a 50% VA disabled military veteran. I served 14 years altogether and I know this song is about our American troops both at war,as well as those of our troops who have the unfortunate ordeal on ever having been a POW. These lyrics to this song are so great. "Standing alone in a crowded room,I could feel a chill in the air I'm shaking. I'm miles away,I want to cry out loud,I'm going to the end I won't let em take me alive"That's why I'll Fight Fire With Fire"!! This song is what music is all about.

Metallica's Fight Fire with Fire is WAY FUCKING better

@master smuggler It is a totally different song. I like them both.

@master smuggler

@master smuggler Fight fire with fire from Metallica is about a 4 minute song. I listened to the first 2 minutes and I couldn't tell if it was a song...more just yelling...l couldn't listen to the rest and I actually like some heavy metal such as skillet.
