Under The Covers Lyrics

And I'm bottling up your soft, dream-like scent
In my head, for the ride home
I've been searching with bruised limbs for ways to get me going
For ways to get me going

To give me confidence to stare
And observe the world
To give me confidence to stare

If I could sleep forever
Would you still be in my dreams?
If I could sleep forever
Would you still be in my dreams?
In my dreams
If I could sleep forever
Would you still be in my dreams?
If I could sleep forever
Would you still be in my dreams?
Would you still be in my dreams?

The way I saw this song was totally differnt actually ha. -- "And I'm bottling up your soft, dream-like scent In my head, for the ride home I've been searching with bruised limbs for ways to get me going For ways to get me going"
----Right Here I think of it as in His He just spent time with the girl he truely Loves who doesnt see him as anything more than a friend and he still has her scent on his mind. And Now he's trying to Get back home. I see Home as Normal. Hes trying to go back to the way he was before he was ever with her and Hes trying to get by his broken hear and figure out someway to get him self going again. To give me confidence to stare And observe the world To give me confidence to stare ----As for this Part He is just trying to work himself up to be able to look past her and move on and see the world a different way . If I could sleep forever Would you still be in my dreams? If I could sleep forever Would you still be in my dreams? In my dreams If I could sleep forever Would you still be in my dreams? If I could sleep forever Would you still be in my dreams? Would you still be in my dreams?

Under the covers ------As for this part I see Him asking himself as he lays in bed if he will still care for her even if he just sleeps for the rest of his life. And Under the covers is as if he's trying to avoid it with Hiding.. Just what i thinkkk

This song is some what of a story to me..

"And I'm bottling up your soft, dream-like scent In my head, for the ride home I've been searching with bruised limbs for ways to get me going For ways to get me going"

In the beginning of the song he is driving home after a time spent with a girl he cares deeply for. While he's driving he's thinking about everything he loves about her. And he's doing every thing he can to remember those moments spent together. (like, metaphorically, "bottling up your soft, dream-like scent....") And, as he is thinking about all of this, he is thinking about himself also. All the "bruised limbs," or broken hearts he's has gone through from other girls, and as he carries on with all these "bruised limbs" he's still looking for a new person (hopefully the one he's with now) that can give him "confidence to stare, And observe the world."

"If I could sleep forever Would you still be in my dreams? If I could sleep forever Would you still be in my dreams? In my dreams If I could sleep forever Would you still be in my dreams? If I could sleep forever Would you still be in my dreams? Would you still be in my dreams?

Under the covers Under the covers Under the covers Under the covers "

The song ends with him returning home, and lying in bed, still thinking about the girl. As he is "under the covers." He can only wonder, 'Could I see myself with this girl forever? Or is she only another broken heart?" And, just as those last seconds of him being awake pass by, he thinks to himself, "Can I dream forever about this girl?"(so that's why he asks "If I could sleep forever Would you still be in my dreams?")

I hope that made sense...I love The Spill Canvas!

k i agree with teh first part from xsimpledesignx about the heartache thingy but what if he's like depressed and h's wondering if this girl can save him from all of his depressing feelings and give him a different view of the world...and at the end he's having suicidal thoughts when he's not with her (i guess driving home and to his bed) and while he's under the covers he's wondering if he would die (sleep forever) would she remain with him forever i guess so yeah that too makes sense in a way...just wanted to make a story...so yeah peace out hearts
