Mountain Lyrics

Nerves on fire, nothing is a sneaker...everything is catastrophe
That bump in your armpit is Cancer
That bump was turbulence
I guess it starts again

There is no reason for nostalgia,
Everything is still happening,
There is no reason for memory

The step, a choice.
I wish everything could have worked out the way you wanted it to
It's so tragic...so beautiful...
When everything is so hollow
Think of going home.

You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful to me
So far, i've logged so many hours
With medications and the dog
...You are so beautiful to me

So far, I've lost so many hours,
Two medications and a dog

IT'S JUST ANOTHER MOUNTAIN!
...JUST ANOTHER MOUNTAIN!

Just another weakness

I'd just like to add a note that some of these lines aren't actually in the song. I beleive that Devin Townsend said he wanted them to be, but it didn't fit the music.

This song relates to Devin's used-to-be dog Happy. While Devin was working on Terria (or slightly before), Happy died. "That bump in your armpit is Cancer/That bump was turbulence" describes how Devin underwent some "turbulence" due to the death of Happy. Devin next states that the world is still spinning despite the death of his furry friend, and that "There is no reason for nostalgia, There is no reason for memory." After all, semi-relating to his song 3 AM, you cannot change the past and dwelling in it can be dangerous.

You can also see the hours Devin used up taking care of the dog, "So far, i've logged so many hours with medications and the dog."

Later in the song, after the awesome chanting section in the middle, you can hear Happy playing with Devin and Tracy. Also, in Dev's second "death metal growl," Happy is howling. Very touching song.

"It's just another mountain" explains how the death of his dog is just another bump in the road, another problem to get over. However, he will get over it, like any other problem.
