Wanted Lyrics

i have wonderd far and wide for;
somthing real, somthing to die for;
but i have found you;
and you do not see all that is me;
all that is true, and

i am more than you will see
i am more will need
i am more than you will see
more than wanted

as you float the flimsy surface
you should know life lies beneath it
and dont pretednd you feel what i feel
you live illusion and im real

i am more than you will see
i am more than you will need
i am more than you will see
more than wanted

i know, i know you like the way you feel when i play
i know, i know you dont really hear what i say
i know, i know you are waiting for somthing to rain
i know, i know you wish you could be more than you say

i have wonderd far and wide for;
somthing real, somthing to die for;
but i have found you;
and you do not see all that is me;
all that is true, and

i am more than you will see
i am more will need
i am more than you will see
more than wanted

i am more than you will see
i am more will need
i am more than you will see
more than wanted

more than youll love
more than youll hate
more than you hold
more than wanted

more than youll crave
more than youll cherish
more than youll have
more than wanted

Great song, and it always makes me almost angry when I listen to it - but not a "I'm gonna destroy stuff" angry but more of one that makes you want to do something about something... or something

Someone seeing through shallow eyes

its so hard to love someone and know they dont really feel the same, they more like you for other aspects...

This songs is about not being able to show your self...like when someone says they know you...but they know nothing about you..."i am more than you will see" and its also about how people take other people for granted "more than you'll cherish"

Vanessa had an apartment with a roommate in Hell's Kitchen, she thought her neighbor was cute but was disappointed that he never paid her as much attention as she wanted ... one day she was playing the piano and her roommate invited the guy over ... the guy then was so smitten with her and she was kinda angry thinking 'I am so much more than a piano player..' and this is what it is about.

if that's true, that's such a cool story :).

I love this song (I recently learned it on the piano, but I'm definitely not as good as Vanessa!) but anyway, I feel it's about maybe having a boyfriend or a guy that you like, and they only appreciate you for one thing (and according to solidground86) that seems about right! I can really relate to this song, it shows shallowness in guys and how we are really more than we seem.

she is talking in a very real real way about sex (i know you like the way you feel when i play) but the guy shes with does not even see her as a person he is so shallow (and as u float the flimsy surface you should know life lies beneath it) she wants to be more than just wanted by some guy.

and also yes this song makes me very angry..like angry tears mad cause i can understand it so well...im glad that she always writes about things that are real.

I saw her in concert a few years ago after her first album release...she told us (the crowd) her story behind it. She fell in love with her best friend, but as she was about to tell him, he came out to her, breaking her heart because he was gay and she was more than he wanted...he wished he could be more than he said he could, but it wasn't who he was, though he loved her as a best friend, in the end, he was gay.

I have absolutely fallen in love with Vanessa Carlton after this song! Ironic, isn't it? Maybe not.

As for the story posted above this comment - wow. That's such a deep story, and I'm kind of speechless.

This is my favorite song by Vanessa Carlton.

My favorite line - aside from the chorus: "and don't pretend you feel what I feel/you live illusion and I'm real." Also, I really like: "I know, I know you like the way you feel when I play."

Man. This song is brilliant.
