Single Part Of Two Lyrics
"Come with me," he said and erased it from his mind
"be with me now," but of love we are frightened stiff
We'd rather leave and head for the skies
than say all the right words too soon
"And I never thought you would
But always knew you could"
"We take off from here," and in that
instant nothing remained of what was
whereas the soul provides, freedom
narrowed down for the taking
"I never wanted you to lie
-never needed fragments of your day"
A broken promise made,
to always come around
-never to stay
And as tired as cliches come
did not expect nor frown upon
lighter hearts have taken bait
Sweetened words now with bitter taste
A distance kept that never fails to close us in
and forget the days that still linger on
inside the single part of two
We'd rather leave no trace and not look back
"be with me now," but of love we are frightened stiff
We'd rather leave and head for the skies
than say all the right words too soon
But always knew you could"
instant nothing remained of what was
whereas the soul provides, freedom
narrowed down for the taking
-never needed fragments of your day"
A broken promise made,
to always come around
-never to stay
did not expect nor frown upon
lighter hearts have taken bait
Sweetened words now with bitter taste
and forget the days that still linger on
inside the single part of two
We'd rather leave no trace and not look back

I think this song is about marriage. Marriage vows being the "right words" that are said "too soon."
"Never needed fragments of your day" seems to mean that marriage breeds familiarity, which strains the relationship.
The song talks about how it is a tired cliche that many have participated in, only to ultimately find disappointment.
I really like this song and would be interested to hear what others think about it.
Oh, and this should have been posted under Dark Tranquility. Not Dark "Tranquillity."
tranquility is the american spelling. tranquillity is the european spelling (you see, they are european! wow!) look on any of their cd's its in-friggin-credible! TWO L'S! YES TWO OF THEM! check out like a song from skyfire called TranquiLLity's Maze (YES 2 L'S THERE TWO MAN! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!), because they are european as well. ok well i just felt like enlightening you. you are welcome. come again anytime
This is in fact probably about marriage (in a negative light :-), but I always imagined it as being about a couple of lovers (think romeo and juliet) who suddenly must be separated, and the song recounts their last night together, and the loneliness they suffer afterwards. But I'm probably wrong.
DT rocks!
i like this song..its cute...i makes u wanna hold hands and sing w/ someone....lol
Well,I don´t speak English,so there are parts of this song i don´t understand.I think it talk about pride in a relationship(maybe marriage):"We'd rather leave and head for the skies than say all the right words too soon",and this pride carries to infidelity:"And I never thought you would But always knew you could" But this is my opinion. Greets you all
It's about a guy avoiding marriage.
"A broken promise made to come around, never to stay" To stay would be marriage, to come around is basically just to get some ass.
It's more or less a song about pimpin'.
if the writer sings about a guy avoiding a marriage... is he gay ?! I don't get the lyrics :)
