Aveda Lyrics
I got my head shaved for her because she told me it would do all the right things for my identity. I never knew that it would; I never knew that it could; I think perhaps because it makes no difference. Hold me down Aveda! Hold me down... it feels so right. All I know is what I've been told. I got all done up for her because she told me it would do something to correct my identity. I never knew that I should; I never knew that I would; I think perhaps because it makes no difference. I can't articulate it; consistently frustrated; her discontent over my identity. I never knew that itwould; I never knew that it could; I never knew because it makes no difference.

Hot Hot Heat is a genuine + amazing band, and this song proves it. Aveda is possibly about a crush that just doesn't seem to like him no matter what he does.. thats my only guess, awesome song however.
Aveda- his girlfriend? and i think that she's wanting to change him and he does it, yet "it makes no difference" and "her discontent over my identity" and then he thinks that all of that holds him down. i think that this is the song where he just gets fed up with it
whatever... this is the only song i wanted to hear them play live, and when I went to their concert last week in Philly this is the ONLY one they didn't play! LOL
It's really rare for them to perform this song live, but I had the pleasure of seeing them perform it the other night :)

it's about changing for someone who really doesn't like you. and figuring it out making all those differences won't make a difference.
by the way, they played this when i saw them on 07.01.03. i was stoked.
hot hot heat is my new current obsession. i love this song..when he says "aveda" it kinda sounds elvis-ish
I think it's about a girl that he really likes who isn't happy with him the way that he is. so he changes for her but it isn't making a diiference because he's still the same person and that's what she isn't happy with. by the way...Aveda is the name of a cosmetics company as well...makeup is used to change your outwardly identity, but I suppose it doesn't really make a difference to your personality. Just a thought.
I think he's reffering to the hair products Aveda sells in the chorus, but he's saying in the song that he's doing it to make a girl happy.
