The electronic pulses and really distant-sounding vocals really give a feeling of distance, of a forever-lost existence in eternal void of solitude. And yes, while it is much like a conversation with one's demon, this "post-void" feeling really makes it seem like the person in question has "turned down...a choice...forever," and now they are stuck with their hidden despair.

...I think this is the first Dark Tranquillity song I've fully understood. At the very least, it's one hell of an emotional and musical ride.

I think its about feeling empty and realzing then wanting to change and become whole.

it does seem like a man who is talking to himself or a part of himself... "I who know your deepest fear" Who knows your deepest fears better than yourself?

Among the best DT lyrics. So strange, singing about ourself in this way. I think it's about all the things that we are afraid and surround us in life, the clear voice is the lost part of the writer, the growling one is the one that is aware of the emotions, tries to prove a point to the weak part, but throughout the whole song, both parts speak that they cannot be whole, if they are separated... my guess :)
