Swamp Song Lyrics
My warning meant nothing.
You're dancing in quicksand.
Why don't you watch where you're wandering?
Why don't you watch where you're stumbling?
You're wading knee deep and going in.
And you may never come back again.
This bog is thick and easy to get lost in
when you're a stupid,dumb ass, beligerant fucker.
I hope it sucks you down.
Wander in and wandering.
Noone even invited you in.
But still you stumble in stumbling.
So suffocate
or get out while you can.
Noone told you to come.
I hope it sucks you down.
You're dancing in quicksand.
Why don't you watch where you're wandering?
Why don't you watch where you're stumbling?
You're wading knee deep and going in.
And you may never come back again.
when you're a stupid,dumb ass, beligerant fucker.
Noone even invited you in.
But still you stumble in stumbling.
So suffocate
or get out while you can.

Every time I listen to this song I always feel like it's warning people to stay out of my head, so to speak, and that if you don't listen well I warned you, so don't get mad at me when you sink to deep and get stuck. As to say you weren't ready to dive inside my head and truly see what I'm thinking and how I perceive life.
I agree.
I agree.
That's what I think as well.

I think this song is kinda like Jerk-Off... an epic "fuck you" song :P
I feel as though this song could be related to life. The "bog" being life, is easy to get lost in. "no one even invited you in; you still stumble in." This shows how the ignorant people in life are still born though uninvited. The thickness of the bog would probably be everything that is complicated in life, also showing how it would be easy to get lost in and of course there being no return. Dancing in quicksand just signifies how you may be enjoying yourself in life but you don't realize you're digging yourself into a problem, even after being warned. I think that for not taking a warning seriously, Maynard feels no sympathy for the people who are getting sucked in. Most people would disagree with me when I say that I would keep everything that is bad about life in life. My reason for this is that without those bad things and people, there would be no reason to write suck beautiful music like this, and if you think about it with no bad there would be no good. They're two sides of the same coin which cannot exist without the other.
Definitely about drugs. Maynard has spoken before about how he believes a lot of people who take hallucinogens participate in "spiritual theft", meaning that they don't understand the power of what they're meddling with and are taking the drugs simply for a good time. When they find what's really there, it can overwhelm them, and oftentimes it leads to addiction.
I think this is a big "fuck you" to those he believes to be committing spiritual theft. It reminds me of my ex.
I believe, and I say I believe because I wouldn't be suprised if I'm wrong, that this song is about the complexity of Maynards lyrics. People listen and judge because they dont understand them. The bog, his words, are thick, complex, and easy to get lost in.
i take it ur a fan of the rza, an incredibly amazing lyricist, its no wonder u are posting on tool forum. Maynard and Rza some of the most intelligent ppl in the music industry... well it goes beyond that, but we will leave it at that lol....

oh word, as do I. His music is great.
A warning. Get out because, "this bog is thick and easy to get lost in". The warning is not taken seriously so, "I hope it sucks you down". One of the easier ones, I'd have to say.,
I may be wrong who knows, but I think the keywords in this song are "get out while you can". He's just saying get out of this trap Tool has got you in or he is gonna show you just how deep it can really get and at the same time getting you hipnotized with this message. I think it's brilliant.
I think this song is about going into the unknown. taking that next step, even though others say you shouldn't. even though it might be dangerous and scary you should defy everyone and do what you want to.
I think it's a love song
