Waiting For The Sun Lyrics

At first flash of Eden,
We race down to the sea.
Standing there on freedom shore.

Waiting for the sun.
Waiting for the sun.
Waiting for the sun.

Can't you feel it,
Now that spring has come.
That it's time to live
In the scattered sun.

Waiting for the sun.
Waiting for the sun.
Waiting for the sun.
Waiting for the sun.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.

Waiting for you to
Come along.

Waiting for you to
Hear my song.

Waiting for you to
Come along.
Waiting for you to
Tell me what went wrong.

This is the strangest life
I've ever known.

Yeah!

Can't you feel it,
Now that spring has come.
That it's time to live
In the scattered sun.

Waiting for the sun.
Waiting for the sun.
Waiting for the sun.
Waiting for the sun.

This is deffinatly my favourite doors song. I LOVE the slide guitar, it's fucking amazing! Anyway, I think it's about someone who's waiting for something good to happen. Someone who's crying for help but no one hear him...

@bella. I agree; this was the very FIRST Doors song i heard on the radio, late 60s i think, and the very first time i heard of the Doors; i was mesmerized!!! How was it possible for anyone to create such a beautiful song!!! who were these guys, they must have more beautiful, enjoyable, songs ...from then on it was a constant search for new Doors songs; in 1980 i ended up emigrating to the US from Portugal. Too bad He died so young(those florida a- hole cops...)

Responding to <Up To Us>

I think the quote, "This is the strangest life I've ever known." means you can perceive life in so many ways. I don't really know how he meant it though. This is why its such a well known and mysterious quote. It can be contemplated in so many different ways, because there are so many ways to understand life. and one of the worlds most common ways is religion. People are fine with believing that that's what existence all boils down to, a higher power. And that's why people are so faithful to religion. They seek guidance and are certain in their minds that by following a Creed of some kind, they will eventually find it. I choose not to believe in religion, because I enjoy thinking about the mystery of my existence, I am not ready and probably will never want to think of life in one way.

Some people assume that when he said this, he was talking about experimentation with drugs, mainly Hallucinogens. Some think he meant that by tripping, or doing drugs, you can alter your state of mind, and temporarily exist in another life. It seems to be a popular way of thinking, or maybe an alternative to believing in a religion.

I, however, think Morrison was not thinking about one way of analyzing life. He was thinking way far out, over the whole spectrum of contemplating life. This quote makes you think, that's what is so unique about it. it's only a few words, but one could elaborate on it forever.

My Interpretation

I love this song too...Morrison Hotel is a just freakishly brilliant album, maybe better than their debut and their debut is considered one of the best of all time. This song is about the close of a beautiful day. It's a classic any which way you slice it.

Waiting for you to Come along.

Waiting for you to Hear my song.

Waiting for you to Come along. Waiting for you to Tell me what went wrong.

-absolutely amazingly insanely brilliant. If I was making a soundtrack to my life, this would be the closing song. I think it's about that strange sultriness of dusk on a beach in the summer.. it always reminds me of summer evenings when its just so hot out.

"WAiting for you to tell me what went wrong."

best lyric ever written.

I wonder if the song isn't about Christianity. Morrison was into wordplay. He would have realized the word 'sun' when sung, would sound indistiguishable from 'son'.

Could be a commentary on people who wait for Jesus to return and tell them what to do.
