Bury Me Lyrics
[Over you, like an angel]
Bury me in love
Bury me in blood
Shield your kisses
Take your heart
Bury me if it hurts
I love my sister so [chain, unchain]
She don't smother me [chain, unchain, unchain]
I'm breathe in spades I know [unchain]
I'm a jack of all trades
Won't you bury me?
Want to see her born inside [hide, hide]
Some are things you just can't hide
If you see her tell me why [hide, hide]
Why won't she come outside?
If you see her tell me why [hide, hide]
Why won't she come outside?
Want to see her born inside [hide, hide]
Some of the things you just can't hide
She waits, bury me
She waits, bury me
Bury me in blood
Take your heart
Bury me if it hurts
She don't smother me [chain, unchain, unchain]
I'm breathe in spades I know [unchain]
I'm a jack of all trades
Won't you bury me?
Some are things you just can't hide
If you see her tell me why [hide, hide]
Why won't she come outside?
Why won't she come outside?
Want to see her born inside [hide, hide]
Some of the things you just can't hide
She waits, bury me

personally my favorite song on gish. the guitar work is AMAZING. lyrics are a little average tho
That would explain the question i was gonna ask lukefun. I always wondered what kind of drugs S.P. did. I knew it wasn't coke, but now i could see acid, and of course the typical H all rockstars use. Interesting.
They used LSD. I think this song is about loving someone, but not being able to get away from them after you've broken up and moved on. Being attached to someone as though they were your sibling.
I agree with pinkbuss floyd that this tune, musically, is the very best on Gish. I heard it was all about acid too. I hate to imagine Billy all dosed out in the old days. I presume that's where a lot of creativity came from. What a simple but classic style of writing that works for him. FAST, slow, FAST, slow. Genious!
At the beginning of this song someone is saying something...what is he saying? o_O
according to spfc.org, it says "Over you, Like an Angel." I'm Not really sure though.
it sounds to me like, "billy, lovely to meet you."

lukefun i think analyzing you would be harder than this song. But before any kind of remedy can be administered i have to know what you mean by \'its questioning why this thing of joy and beauty isn\'t legal\' ???? stop the drop pal, its not all about acid!
This song is about scratching the surface and getting inside someone so deep you start to discover things they never intended to arise. Although you love them unconditionally they run and hide leaving you broken and buried in the loss.
fuck man... now i'm really depressed. i think you hitted the nail. thanks... :'(!!!! jajaj great song, awesome.

Yeah, it's a very ambiguous song, and it mght not be about LSD. But you have to learn that back then, Billy took LSD on a daily basis and it inspired a lot of his songs, and little would doubt there would be songs about the drug. Or maybe it's just about drugs in general, and "She will bury me" means that the drug will kill him.
James Iha's back up vocals were recorded just after he ate 5 Twinkies, 2 packs of M&M's, and a big glass of Mountain Dew. I remember reading that somewhere about 10 years ago. Anyway that's why he sounds a bit screwy!
I just loooove this song, i assumed it was about LSD, but guys, one suggestion, just cos it is about LSD, don't go and do it. btw, the guitar riff is brilliant for a ringtone, trust me, everyone will smile on a bus if your phone starts ringing.....
