Hand Of Doom Lyrics

Whatcha gonna do?
Time's caught up with you
Now you wait your turn
You know there's no return

Take your written rules
You join the other fools
Turn to something new
Now it's killing you

First it was the bomb
Vietnam napalm
Disillusioning
You push the needle in

From life you escape
Reality's that way
Colors in your mind
Satisfy your time

Oh you, you know you must be blind
To do something like this
To take the sleep that you don't know
You're giving death a kiss, oh, little fool now

Your mind is full of pleasure
Your body's looking ill
To you it's shallow leisure
So drop the acid pill,

Don't stop to think now

You're having a good time baby
But that won't last
Your mind's all full of things
You're living too fast

Go out enjoy yourself
Don't bottle it in
You need someone to help you
To stick the needle in, yeah

Now you know the scene
Your skin starts turning green
Your eyes no longer seeing
Life's reality

Push the needle in,
Face death's sickly grin
Holes are in your skin,
Caused by deadly pin

Head starts spinning 'round
You fall down to the ground
Feel your body heave
Death's hands starts to weave

It's too late to turn
You don't want to learn
Price of life you cry
Now you're gonna die

You know the Velvet Underground song "Heroin"? Is it just me, or is this sort of like Black Sabbath's equivalent of that?

Also, about how the Vietnam veterans would have had access to heroin because they were in Asia...I should have been able to have made that connection, but I never even though about it until now.

This version doesn't make as much sense as the alternate lyrics on the "Past Lives" version. This version is almost totally about heroin; but talks about "colors in your mind", which doesn't match. The live version contains other acid related lyrics like "...because you trip a lot", so it is more about drugs in general.

I meant that comment for the whole thread; but couldn't figure out how to delete it, so I could re-post it.

This is about drugs, the majority eing those which are needle based (herion springs to mind). Personally i think its about drug use and how it helps take you to a different place before it catches up to you and it kills you. (hence the title hand of doom, hand refering to the drugs and doom being death)

"Disillusioning, you push the needle in From life you escape, reality's that way Colours in your mind satisfy your time "

basically what that means (in my opinion) is using a needle based drug like heroin to escape from reality

this song kicks ass and i like slayer's version of it too

this is clearly an anti-herion song, talking about how seductive and powerful drugs are and how they will kill you in the end.

I pretty much agree with what has been said here. I'd also like to say... this song is so awesome, I love the first part with the bass and the drum things where it's slow and all.

I believe its about a veteran of war escaping his pain by taking drugs.

Its irrelevant whether black sabbath was spiking or snorting heroin at the time. Its about taking drugs to forget the atrocities of war, only to see it catch up to you and slowly destroy you from inside. And its not about heroin only they also mention acid, and thats irrelevant too coz the point is drugs fuck you up

Slayer did a version? Does it have the same sludge as BS's?

I see it in a much more negative light. It was kinda the "Black Sabbath" for heroin. (which is strange because in the liner notes for the Reunion album, it says BS never injected, only smoked and snorted heroin...)

Slayers cover kicked ass. They removed part of the lyrics but it still conveys the original message.

a good song...but, i hate herion. it takes your will to live and destroys you.

i believe its "poor little fool now." rather than oh, little fool now.
