Amanda Lyrics
amanda talks about herself
forever and a day she'll get her way
amanda talks about nothing
but she'll make you think it's poetry
and it's too bad she's only seventeen years old
she's too young, yeah
she's too young
amanda talks about herself
but when she sings it's gold
and it's too bad she's only seventeen years old
amanda thinks about herself
forever and a day she'll have her way
amanda thinks about nothing
but she'll make you think it's poetry
and it's too bad she's only seventeen years old
she's too young, yeah
she's too young
amanda talks about herself
but when she sings it's gold
and it's too bad she's only seventeen years old
old enough to know that she's too young
to just come knocking on my door
can't take the girl no more
forever and a day she'll get her way
amanda talks about nothing
but she'll make you think it's poetry
and it's too bad she's only seventeen years old
she's too young
but when she sings it's gold
and it's too bad she's only seventeen years old
forever and a day she'll have her way
amanda thinks about nothing
but she'll make you think it's poetry
and it's too bad she's only seventeen years old
she's too young
but when she sings it's gold
and it's too bad she's only seventeen years old
to just come knocking on my door
can't take the girl no more

is this about a dude who is in love with a 17 year old? it sure sounds that way!
she's throwing herself on him, read the last three lines. he'd like to love her, but he knows she is too young.
Amanda is a girl that is infatuated with herself and how she looks. She will always get her way no matter what, she will lie, cheat, whatever. When she talks, even about nothing, it sounds like poetry to the writer. But she is only 17 years old, which is apparently a bad thing. One reason that he likes her is because of her beautiful voice "amanda talks about herself but when she sings it's gold." He likes her too much, but she is only 17. She flirts with him and comes "knocking on my door" and now they both realize that she is too young for him and he finds that he can't take it anymore.
i wonder what happens next...
my name is amanda and i swear this song reminds me of me.
I don't think the writer is in love with Amanda at all. I always got the impression that the lines like "when she sings its gold" and "Amanda talks about nothing but she'll make you think its poetry" are supposed to be sarcastic. It seems to me like the girl thinks very highly of herself, but she's just a self absorbed, spoiled teenager who needs to grow up.
The song is probably written out of frustration because the girl won't leave him alone rather than being torn because she's too young but he's in love with her despite all these incredibly annoying and unnattractive qualities she has.
ditto what xxDeathOfBeauty said. it's so much like me i'm creeped out.
