You stole my pure intention
You are the sickness in between
Let me in, I'll bury the pain

You taught me to be sad at you
You almost made me take it all
Let me in, I'll bury the pain

You bend me and you shake me
You beg me then you break me
Let me in, I'll bury the pain

You made me feel like a sinner
Now you fear you'll die alone
Let me in, I'll bury the pain

The sickness that you are
The plague that made me starve
You think you can show me how I've come this far

I feel it's taking over
Everything falls dark
Break me open
The desperate cry

It's not so important as to what the pain is that will be buried as that fact that I will make it go away.

Wtf? The singer is Anders! There are only ADDITIONAL VOCALS by Maria.. as there are additional violin by Fiol-Olof too.

Some really interesting interpretations! I think some of them could be subsumed to another one.

You told about hard relationships, suicide thoughts and problems with the whole world around. In combination with this song (lyrics and the singing) it seems to me like a relationship between two loving persons and one of them got the borderline-syndrome.

These verses shows sounds very sad and helpless. People with borderline have a disposition to classifiy only in two extremes - black & white, good or evil, love or hate. There is no thing between this extremes. (Really interesting if you know what song follows on the reroute Album)

In this case, the person is in such a black phase. Everything is hell to him, and "everything falls dark". He want to find the reason why inside himself but he couldn´t find answers so he hates himself. ["The sickness that you are ... how I got this far?"]

And in every chorus you hear this second voice but only with the lines ["Let me in, I’ll bury the pain"] On the one hand the singer (borderlineperson) would like to understand this things happend to him and maybe he want to solve his problems with suicide. On the other hand there is a voice from outside of his world. A person who wants to help but gets no connection to his world and the singer just hear these words and is incapable to react on these words an the help from outside.

After the relationship with such kind of persons this song means very much to me. And it is just another interpretation of this song i really don´t think the lyrics were written with this thoughts. But in many way they fit perfectly to such kinds of relationships.

I hope my words sounds not to awfully, my english isn´t the best but i hope the meaning is understandable & thx to inflames for this song, a song as a way to explian things which very hard traceable. (For such things metaphors are used, am i right?)

My general consensus regarding this song is that it is an outlined interpretation of a toxic relationship. Offering multiple complex vantage points regarding it. one party is saying that their intentions were pure and now they're seen as evil, "the sickness that you are the plague that made me starve" being the feeling of intimate and psychological absence. "I feel it taking over, everything falls dark, you break me open the desperate cry" getting multiple emotionally abusive shots in to warrant vulnerability to the significant other on the other side. Subtle undertones of worthlessness and depression hinted as well.Ultimately both parties went into the relationship with best intentions that fell short, but rather than acknowledging their own shortcomings they push forward with the relationship with the ultimate sense of emptiness tied in. The feeling of wanting to bury the pain and bear one's burden on your shoulders to the point where it breaks you.
