Forever Lyrics
forever your eyes will hold the memory
i saw your heart as it overtook me
we tried so hard to understand and reason
but in the one moment i gave my heart away
the perfect breath where my mind lay beside me
and all i knew is what had overtaken me
with no explanation
i am comforted by my inability to understand
when i wake from this dream will you still be here?
will your smile still open my heart
and leave me trasparent?
i saw your heart as it overtook me
we tried so hard to understand and reason
but in the one moment i gave my heart away
the perfect breath where my mind lay beside me
and all i knew is what had overtaken me
with no explanation
i am comforted by my inability to understand
when i wake from this dream will you still be here?
will your smile still open my heart
and leave me trasparent?

I definitely agree w/ dawnofreckoning. I saw that show and As I Lay Dying destroyed everyone else.
I think he might be talking about the moment when he first gave his life to Christ. and how you simply can't explain in words the power of the Holy Spirit coming into your heart.
This Song Is Awesome!
What does it mean?
Ignore MissMaryJane. AILD is a Christian band, and this song is about an unexplainable experience in his relationship with God.

It is seemingly impossible to comprehend the feeling you experience when in a deep relationship with God. One moment can change everything, and you can realize things you've never thought of before.

God is beyond our understanding, and often we question if these experiences are all in our minds or if they are actually happening. However, the experience is so great, we can only believe it is truly God working in our lives. We should be comforted by the fact that he is infinitely beyond us, and loves us infinitely nonetheless.
when i wake from this dream will you still be here? will your smile still open my heart and leave me transparent?
When the experience is over, do we take it to heart? Do we keep it within us and display it as we live? Often experiences with God are so great that they feel like a dream, and to "leave your heart open" or live your experience afterward is the true test of the experience. If you truly accept the gifts of God, your life will change.
Like most of AILD songs, it is a love song, simple as that.
I saw these guys with Sworn Enemy and Himsa, they owned both of them easily.
i seen that sworn enemy show w/ as i lay and himsa. it fuckin rocked, although i gotta stay true to sworn enemy for owning the show
saw these guys with In Flames and Killswitch Engage recently ... and these guys got owned ... their live show sucked and all the songs sounded the same ... with different music ... all the lyrics just melded together into a lump of garbage ... the guitarist was sic though ... KsE easily wasted both bands ... because theyre the best
I love the beat and how fast it moves from one thing to the next..Id have to say tho, In Flames is a bit better but As i Lay Dying is a damn close second to them!
first of all the guitars in this song make me wanna cry and at the same time destroy everything around me. to me this song is about a person (girl or boy) to which the writer was very close to but now he can't understand what made his heart feel that way. the memory of that person will forever be in the authors heart but now that he got over the relationship/break he asks that special person if he/she is still going to make him feel that way again.
One of the only AILD songs I can tolerate along with 94 Hours. I have to say the guitars are awesome, but the vocals leave something to be desired. I saw these guys with KsE and In Flames, and definately these guys sucked hardcore. In Flames were great, but nothing beats KsE live. All of AILD's songs sounded the same because all the singer does is scream incoherantly. There is no Variation from scream to melody.
