Desert road from vegas to no where.
Someplace better than where you've been.
A coffee machine that needs some fixing
& a little cafe just around the bend.

I am calling you (to hear me)
I am calling you.

A hot dry with blows right through me
A baby is crying and i cant sleep
But we all know a change is coming
coming closer, sweet relief.

I am calling you (i know you hear me)
I am calling you. Ohhh.

I'm calling you
Oh I'm calling you. ooh.

Desert road from Vegas to nowhere
Some place better than where you've been.
A coffee machine that needs some fixing.
mm. a little cafe just around the bend.

A hot dry wind blows right through me.
Your baby is crying and i can't sleep.
And we all know a change is coming.
Come little closer,
sweet relief sweet relief sweet

I am calling you (i know you hear me)
I am calling you. Oooh.

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
