Sober (Tool cover) Lyrics
There's a shadow just behind me,
shrouding every breath I take,
making every promise empty,
pointing every finger at me.
Waiting like a stalking butler
who upon the finger rests.
Murder now the patron must we.
just because the son has come.
Jesus, won't you fucking whistle
something but the past and done?
Why can't we not be sober?
I just want to start this over.
Why can't we drink forever.
I just want to start things over.
I am just a worthless liar.
I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you.
Trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you.
I will chew it up and leave,
I will work to elevate you
just enough to bring you down.
Trust me.
Mother Mary won't you whisper
something but what's past and done.
Trust me.
I want what I want.
shrouding every breath I take,
making every promise empty,
pointing every finger at me.
Waiting like a stalking butler
who upon the finger rests.
Murder now the patron must we.
just because the son has come.
Jesus, won't you fucking whistle
something but the past and done?
I just want to start this over.
Why can't we drink forever.
I just want to start things over.
I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you.
Trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you.
I will chew it up and leave,
I will work to elevate you
just enough to bring you down.
something but what's past and done.

I like how they covered this song I seen it live during the Return of the rock tour june 20, 2000with Dope, Crazy town and P.O.D
hmm..interesting...need to hear this one...
I heard a soft version and a harder version of Staind playing this. But the harder version was in crappy quality.
Yea Bootleggers need to find a better why of recording
this song would only sound good if tool does it. staind needs to leave this one alone.
Sorry, I have to agree with Dimmu. It pales in comparison to the original Tool version, although I am a big fan of Staind nonetheless. Not a bad idea to do a cover, but this song doesn't work for them.
I like both versions of the song.
of course Tool's is better but Staind always sings from the heart and this song's lyrics look very similar to something Aaron Lewis would write. he did a good job.
eh i think they failed with the cover. i think bands shouldnt cover something they cant nail right
i think they failed miserably at this cover
