I Had A Time Lyrics
It takes this soul of mine to see you burst my heart
And I'll find
That there's a silver lining
You don't see
If we end it soon
It's clean and pure
And I won't hurt no more
Because I had the time of my life
For sure
It is true
A mountain like you
Ought to see
Which way they are going
What you've never dreamed
You can't lose
So stay so clean and pure
Enjoy
Don't hurt no more
Cos I won't see your smiling face
But I won't see your smiling fade
And know I had the time of my life
That day
Surely we could carry on
When you're left behind
With no good reason
It's a shame but the feelings never gone
Don't you know that I
I had a time
Surely we could carry on
When you're left behind
With no good reason
It's a shame but the feelings never gone
Don't you know that I
I had a time
Don't you know that I
I had a time
And I'll find
That there's a silver lining
You don't see
If we end it soon
It's clean and pure
Because I had the time of my life
For sure
A mountain like you
Ought to see
Which way they are going
What you've never dreamed
You can't lose
So stay so clean and pure
Don't hurt no more
Cos I won't see your smiling face
But I won't see your smiling fade
And know I had the time of my life
That day
When you're left behind
With no good reason
It's a shame but the feelings never gone
Don't you know that I
I had a time
When you're left behind
With no good reason
It's a shame but the feelings never gone
Don't you know that I
I had a time

I get a huge feeling of bittersweet from this beautiful song.
It makes me think of a person ending a relationship before it got bad. Kind of going out while he's ahead type of thing. He knows it'll end, so he'd going to leave her before anything goes awry. He's deeply hurt by it, but knows he'll be okay knowing he'll have such wonderful memories. He had the time of his life during this short period. He had a time.

Looking back on a circumstance (ie something that really meant something to you, could be anything like your school years, leaving a job or something much deeper like someone's death).
And not focusing on how it ended not quite in the way you'd hoped, or that maybe you didn't achieve what you should have. Just remembering the good times and the success.
