Fireworks Lyrics

I stretched over to reach you
I tried to meet you, I've been wrong
Now the fireworks in me are all gone
It's time I realised
My girl you make all the smart moves
And sees through all my wrongs
When the fireworks in me are all wrong
Well then I realised

And I don't need convincing
I've seen enough to want to try and change things
You fell in love, I fell in line
I thought I found my place
Before I knew how much it cost to play it safe

Have I let you,
I never let you down.

I work all day and I won't fight
When it feels right and its wrong
When the fireworks in me are all gone
Well then I realised

And I won't need convincing
I've seen enough to want to try and change things
You fell in love, I fell in line
I thought I found my place
Before I knew how much it cost to play it safe

Could I leave you?
I never let you down.

I love Embrace, been a fan since day one and it disappoints me to see the lack of comment on their old material, though I won't complain about the interest in the new stuff.

The Good Will Out Album means so much to me, but I especially love this track. "Have I let you? I never let you down" sums up so many things for me.

Danny McNamara - a musical genius.

this is my favourite song of all time, about realising that you'e been with the wrong person for so long and really need to do something about it, so you know you need to end it but it's so difficult to do because you don't want to hurt their feelings and you don't want to let them down, but at the end of the day, you know it's the only option left. Fantastic band all round, I agree with big w about not having enough comments on embraces old material

This is about losing something you once had, assumably a feeling, or a sense of love or pride.

'Now the fireworks in me are all gone' - I'm not good enough anymore.

Sorry if my explanation or interpretation is quite long... I just love this song so much and the lyrics just struck me sooo much <3 “I stretched over to reach you I tried to meet you, I've been wrong Now the fireworks in me are all gone It's time I realized”

  • The singer wants this someone so much and he would try anything to be with this person. He thought he could be with her but in the end his love for her waned. “My girl you make all the smart moves And you see through all my wrongs When the fireworks in me are all gone Then I realized”
  • He’s complementing his girl but when his feelings fade he pondered the negative side of her. “ And I won't need convincing I've seen enough to want to try And change things You fell in love, I fell in line”
  • The girl already fell in love with someone and even though that was the case he still waited and loved her. However became conscious that he doesn’t need to convince himself to try and make things work to save their love since she can’t reciprocate his love for her.

“thought I found my place Before I knew how much it cost to play it safe Have I let you, I'll never let you down.”

  • He thought that the girl was the one before he found out how much it means to protect himself from all the pain she had cost him. And he’s asking the girl if he did his best in their relationship. “I work all day and I won't find When it feels right and its wrong When the fireworks in me are all gone Then I realized”
  • In this part, the singer is admitting his fault in their relationship. He’s too busy that he started to neglect the girl and he’s not aware if he’s hurting her or not.

“Before I knew how much it cost to play it safe Could I leave you, I'll never let you down.”

  • He’s asking if he could walk away from their relationship but in the end he’s saying that he’ll do his best to make it work so it’s like he’s asking for another chance.
My Interpretation

the last part was quite wrong because the lyrics was suppose to be "I never let you down"

sorry about that guys ><

@mauichan i love you
