Mansion Of Cardboard Lyrics
Overcoat
Old wool cap
Leather gloves
Hide the fat
In a world made of tears
He is safe from his fears
On his own
He's on his own
He likes it that way
Thoughts arise
Fear is doubt
Bearing through
Giving smell
It's the happiest day
When he moves far away
From the crowd
The curious crowd
He wants them to stand back
The old man's snoring heavy
Down underneath the bridge
He's got his mansion of cardboard slats
And it's enough
It's the happiest day
When he moves far away
From the crowd
The curious crowd
He wants them to stand back
The old man's snoring heavy
Down underneath the bridge
He's got his mansion of cardboard slats
And it's enough
Stand back
The old man's snoring heavy
Down underneath the bridge
He's got his mansion of cardboard slats
And it's enough
Old wool cap
Leather gloves
Hide the fat
In a world made of tears
He is safe from his fears
On his own
He's on his own
He likes it that way
Fear is doubt
Bearing through
Giving smell
When he moves far away
From the crowd
The curious crowd
He wants them to stand back
The old man's snoring heavy

He's got his mansion of cardboard slats
And it's enough
When he moves far away
From the crowd
The curious crowd
The old man's snoring heavy

He's got his mansion of cardboard slats
And it's enough

Its the happiest day when i listen to this song
this song reminds me of my dad who dreams of living in a cardboard box all by himself under an overpass
i think it's about a bum or something. awesome.
It's obviously about a bum/homeless person, etc...
great song though..
I like Rivers' vocals in this. This song reminds me of The Organ Player. Maybe it's just the thrird person lyrics.
I believe this song is what became the song "So Low." It has the same chord progression and everything, much in the vain of "Little Songs" and "We Go Together."
Hmm...I think in these album 5 demos he uses someone else to describe himself.
People don't like the bum, and I think that's what Rivers thinks what others think about him.
I cant think of any more, but there's a lot more meaning to this than just a song about a bum
