Are the Songs My Disease? Lyrics
I used to know this wretched girl
I made her open for me
I took her heart
And I kissed it clean
But she still kicks against me
Are the songs my disease?
Are the songs my disease?
Maybe she's creating me
Mistaken accidentally
For a girl I used to know
In darkness permanently
If I find her the perfect line
My sickness might desert me
Are the songs my disease?

I took her heart
And I kissed it clean
But she still kicks against me
Are the songs my disease?
Mistaken accidentally
For a girl I used to know
In darkness permanently
If I find her the perfect line
My sickness might desert me
Are the songs my disease?

I think maybe the wretched girl is the songs. How suddenly they can just be found and how you can make them into something beautiful but then they turn bad. i think the part about the perfect line is pretty self-explanatory. The nasty things will leave if you find something perfect-a line.
I really like this. Thought-provoking, like most of their stuff. Songs have the capacity to make you think about a lot and really fuck your head up, I think she's saying through writing stuff she is releiving herself but it's temporary and ultimately the songs are destroying her. When it talks about 'this wretched gurl' i always presumed Katie Jane was talking about herself but you're right..it could be the songs. If anyone wants to e-mail me about QA feel free, I love this band and could talk about Katie Jane's beauty for hours!
I believe this song is based on Katies past, who she was and Daisy Chainsaw. The first verse is saying: I was in this situation but I helped myself get better but it's hard for her not to return. The third verse to me is Katie saying maybe nothing's changed, but if I stick at this maybe I will find my cure.
I also think that this song could be about the Daisy Chainsaw years.
Especially the line "If I find the perfect line, my sickness might desert me". In Daisy Chainsaw she didn't do any of the writing and in interviews she has voiced the frustrations she felt at this. I wonder whether that is a reference to not being able to write for the band.
