Dreams Burn Down Lyrics
Lying under sky
Laughing at everything I say
And pulls me under
There's no time to resist
Lying on the floor
The tears are falling down and more
Her eyes speak loud
But actions speak the best
Waiting, hoping for a sign
That what's forbidden can be mine
I just want what I can't have
'Til my dreams burn down and choke me every time
She's effortlessly cool
But circumstances can be cruel
And sometimes you must accept
That you can't always get what you want
We fill up our days and nights
We fill up the gaps in our empty little lives
But we know that we are doomed
The moment we walk out the room
Waiting, hoping for a sign
That what's forbidden can be mine
I just want what I can't have
'Til my dreams burn down and choke me every time
Laughing at everything I say
And pulls me under
There's no time to resist
Lying on the floor
The tears are falling down and more
Her eyes speak loud
But actions speak the best
That what's forbidden can be mine
I just want what I can't have
'Til my dreams burn down and choke me every time
But circumstances can be cruel
And sometimes you must accept
That you can't always get what you want
We fill up our days and nights
We fill up the gaps in our empty little lives
But we know that we are doomed
The moment we walk out the room
That what's forbidden can be mine
I just want what I can't have
'Til my dreams burn down and choke me every time

Well I think that this song is about forbidden romance, where one of the partners can't get out what he wants out of a relationship. He's still hoping for something more, but reality strikes periodically to let him know that his dreams are never going to become true. To me however it holds a different meaning. I always have struggled to gain people's appreciation, love and genuine relationships. And I do all these pointless things that i don't enjoy just to receive my own and others' approval. And sometimes I just realize that i struggle in vain. And i lose my motivation, my dreams. It's a beautiful song, it gives out this ...not depressive, but nostalgic feeling.
Gorgeous song indeed. It does seem to be about the girl he just can't have, and he half laments that fact, half accepts it as a lesson.
I love the oriental leads in this song; so delicate and beautiful!
lovely song
amazing
oh yeah one of my faves.
There are obviously some minor errors in the lyrics here but stupid songmeanings will revert any changes due to the "Lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing" nonsense. Too bad, this could have been a great site.
It's been awhile since I last listened to this album and I was so struck by the power of the opening drum sequence... I could be totally wrong, but it feels as if few songs I hear these days open this way... then again, Ride was always far ahead of everyone else... great song !!!
This song is about a girl being forcefully raped: lying down the floor/tears are falling down.../her eyes speak loud.../...actions speak the best / that what's forbidden can be mine / I just want what I can't have From the girl perspective: she's effortlessly cool/but circumstances can be cruel.
@iwognmea I hope you are wrong but it is a good shout.

It is a really painful and helpless feeling, I felt the lyricist is trying to express a helpless feeling, he loves her so much, but they can't be together, because sth is holding them back. Espeially when the lyrics reaches"we are doomed when we walk out of the room" from which I can feel when we walk out of room, we have to face reality in day light, but in home, we can imagine in dream. It seems it is almost impossible for them to be together though the lyricist himsels not sure what excatly is holding him back from reaching to her. But he might feels it is right to let her go. Maybe because they live in different country, maybe there is huge age gap between them that makes him wrong to start the relationship.
