I say it's about addiction. I could expand on this but I don't feel like it.

On a more general level, I think the idea of this song is that no matter who you are, your demons are your own and no one else's.
This song is definitely about Addiction, ie Took the hook and swallowed it, Terrified, I tried to quit, etc, and he goes on to say that the addiction ruined his life. the demons he's reffering to are his inner demons, in my opinion.
