Empty Space Lyrics
too late to hide
and too tired to care
take what you've left
and forget the rest
take what you see
of what's left of me
you know where I've been
and I don't want to go there again
you're beautiful
you're confusing
you're illogical
you're amazing
and I've seen the world
it's overrated
until you're everything
I have nothing
but empty space
I've been down
this road before
all that I've found
points me right back to you
and I've watch you move
from down below
where do I go from here
I guess I'll find out as I go
you're beautiful
you're confusing
you're illogical
you're amazing
and I've seen the world
it's overrated
until you're everything
I have nothing
but empty space
you're beautiful
you're confusing
you're illogical
you're amazing
and I've seen the world
it's overrated
until you're everything
I have nothing
until you're everything
I have nothing
but an empty space
and too tired to care
take what you've left
and forget the rest
take what you see
of what's left of me
you know where I've been
and I don't want to go there again
you're confusing
you're illogical
you're amazing
and I've seen the world
it's overrated
until you're everything
I have nothing
but empty space
this road before
all that I've found
points me right back to you
and I've watch you move
from down below
where do I go from here
I guess I'll find out as I go
you're confusing
you're illogical
you're amazing
and I've seen the world
it's overrated
until you're everything
I have nothing
but empty space
you're confusing
you're illogical
you're amazing
and I've seen the world
it's overrated
until you're everything
I have nothing
until you're everything
I have nothing
but an empty space

I love this song!
It reminds me of the long, weary nights - the ones where you might have just consumed a self-invented Milo/red cordial pick-me-up shake and you are driven out of your fuckin wits for this one kid. And you just shrug it off, and let yourself fall into an uneasy sleep.
Things are okay, but hell, you're addicted, and you're confused.
nice firtst comment.. well im a huge lifehouse fan, their new cd is of course amazing.. this is a kick ass song.. i can definetly relate.. "you're beautiful, you're confusing, you're illogical, you're amazing, and I've seen the world it's overrated, until you're everything, I have nothing but an empty space ".. says it all... simply amazing
the lyrics are a bit wrong whoever put em on here
According to the CD booklet the lyrics are slightly different from whoever posted: instead of "take what you've left and forget the rest" its "take what you learned and forget the rest"
Anyway, I'm going to have to say that this song relates to God. He is beautiful, confusing, illogical, and amazing. This song says it all! "Until you're everything-I have nothing-But an empty space"- life would only have an empty space in it without God. This is just my intrepretation to this song. I know that Lifehouse may not be considered a Christian band but their songs imply God as a part of life. Just read in between the lines.
Jason WAde (songwriter) said this about the song: "This is about the good and the bad, the struggle between beauty and darkness and how they're intertwined. What keeps relationships together is often what drives them apart. I've managed to find a niche of writing where I can take something from my own perspective and give it to a broad audience, where they can get something completely different from it than I do. That's the beauty of music - it's a universal language, something people can relate to their own lives."
I think it's just about being completely in love with someone and letting go and trusting the relationship. I don't see it as a Christian song (especially after his explanation), but more of a relationship song.
I think the lines: "until you're everything/I have nothing/but an empty space" Is like saying you are all that I have, and so if you're not everything, then I have nothing, because you're it. And it's going along with the trusting the relationship thing. Like, he's saying take what's left of me, and h'es blindly going down a road, because he trusts the other half of the relationship.
I think it could most definitely be a song based on someone's relationship with Christ.
