Outtasite (Outta Mind)

"Out of sight, out of mind" is the cliche - if you're away from something/someone for a while, even something/someone you used to love, it's easy to stop thinking of them. At least that's the theory.

But Wilco, being Wilco, switches it around. It's easy to not see what's right in front of you if you're not thinking about it, or don't expect it to be there.

Great fuckin song. I love it. Who gives a damn if the girl doesn't want you. Fuck her! I'm goin out with my friends again. Ok alright! HAHA

I love the music video with the skydiving. Everything about it is so 90s.

I think this song is about a guy who's relationship with his girlfriend or wife is breaking down. They don't talk much, they don't go on walks much... And then the guy says, "I know where I'll be tonight..." and where will he be? "Outta Mind". Out of his mind (drunk, drugs, etc.) Imagine the guy hiding down in his man-cave boozing it up while his wife is upstairs doing her thing. Then at the end he says, "Here I come again, I'm bringing my friends," like, now he's got his buddies down there too. Whee!

Someone asked me if this was a remake. Does anyone know if it was?

Hah. Yeah, girl rejected him, but is is totally overconfident and doesn't let their lack of a future get in the way of their perfect future. He knows she hates him but still has it against her that she'll be thinking of him. When he says Outta mind Outta sight, he's pretty much saying yeah suure I'll leave you alone ;D

I can relate to this song perfectly. I liked this girl, and I think she liked me back, but nothing ever happened between us. Over winter break I didn't talk to her nor communicate with her. I stopped liking her, and I was at peace, finally! Haha, I wasn't worrying or thinking about this girl.

Except, now, I feel it again, and, I think she does too. Wish me luck. :]
