Far, Far Away Lyrics
Far, far away from those city lights
Might be shining on you tonight
Far, far away from you
On the dark side of the moon
I long to hold you in my arms and sway
Kiss and ride on the CTA
I need to see you tonight
And those bright lights
Oh, I know it's right
Deep in my heart
I'll know it's right
By the bed, by the light that you read by
By the time that I get home to say good night
I need to see you again
On the dark side my friend
On the dark side
Might be shining on you tonight
Far, far away from you
On the dark side of the moon
Kiss and ride on the CTA
I need to see you tonight
And those bright lights
Oh, I know it's right
Deep in my heart
I'll know it's right
By the time that I get home to say good night
I need to see you again
On the dark side my friend
On the dark side

Yeah, its a straightforward song of longing for someone. wonderfully done. I used to play it all the time when I was 2000 miles aways from my girl.
Even without the words, this song just exudes the feeling of longing for someone... i was shocked to see it had so few comments.
This is a great 'Being There' track, it's hard to beleive that nobody has posted about it. It just seems to be about missing someone, really.
this song is so awesome, musically and lyrically. it sounds perfect. and the lyric "kiss and ride on the CTA" is one of my favorite lines. I like how he is talking about the dark side also. because I guess I feel like the person he is talking about is on the dark side, and he wants to go there with her. it's awesome.
Seems like several songs on this album are about being on the road and missing the ones you love, family, etc. Summerteeth takes it a step further and explores the problems these situations can cause
The lyrics are great, to the point and I wouldn't change a letter. I had to look it up but CTA means Chicage Transit Authority bee-thee-double-u
My favorite moment on "Being There" is the Jeff's singing of "Deep in my heart" in this diddie. There's a kind of texture to Jeff's voice on "Being There" I miss on the last two albums, his voice trembles with genuine emotion. Luckily that emotion's only lacking on the studio versions, live it still seeps through thankfully.
I assume this is a love song to Jeff Tweedy's wife, Sue Miller, written during a time when he was on tour and she was home in Chicago and he missed her. My favorite-ever song by my favorite-ever band. I've seen Wilco live six times but I still haven't heard them play this, unfortunately. If I were rich I would bid on a living room show and get Tweedy to play it at my house. Alas, that will never happen, so I just play it about 50 times per week on my ipod. :)
Ha thats funny, I have also seen them 6 times and they havn't done Far Far Away yet. I have been waiting but the liklihood that they will grows slimmer and slimmer each year as they are currently only doing about 2 songs from Being There in every show. I always get Monday, Outasite, Dreamer, Forget the Flowers it seems. Never seen them do Hotel Arizona either, thats my fav on the album
