He seems to be expressing how he feels that he has been screwed over in a relationship, and how his life got really crappy after that all happened. He just wishes that "we all could try" to possibly have better relationships in general.

i saw this band was with shinedown on tour so i checked out some of their stuff... this song has a good beat, good lyrics i agree it has a lot of emotion it...TOAD is a good band...
