I have my pictures of you, you don't look back at me
A smile I'd almost forgotten, bruises I don't see
Never forgive you for a sky turned from gray to black
Come out and kiss me, darling
I promise I'll kiss you back.
A new head on my shoulder,
A needle in my ear
Every kind word brings new pain
Instead of my eyes,
Her reflection in the mirror.
I have a sickness, but I'm not the only one
Even in health ...
In eachother's arms, they're wasting away
Sickened just as I am and crippled with disease
A song comes from above
I look up -- there's a tree and a small brown bird
Even the sparrows have built a nest
But we, poor fools, have built nothing
What a shame not to know that you're dying
Tell us we're dying, tell us again.
I have a sickness
The sparrows built a nest
My crippled, twisted body is swallowed by the earth
As my broken head finds rest.
A smile I'd almost forgotten, bruises I don't see
Never forgive you for a sky turned from gray to black
Come out and kiss me, darling
I promise I'll kiss you back.
A new head on my shoulder,
A needle in my ear
Every kind word brings new pain
Instead of my eyes,
Her reflection in the mirror.
I have a sickness, but I'm not the only one
Even in health ...
In eachother's arms, they're wasting away
Sickened just as I am and crippled with disease
A song comes from above
I look up -- there's a tree and a small brown bird
Even the sparrows have built a nest
But we, poor fools, have built nothing
What a shame not to know that you're dying
Tell us we're dying, tell us again.
I have a sickness
The sparrows built a nest
My crippled, twisted body is swallowed by the earth
As my broken head finds rest.

it's "with their triumphs and their charms" its taken from the song "i know it's over" by the Smiths.
When i first heard this i also noticed the "triumphs and their charms" part also. I'm a big fan of the smiths, too.
i think there are two versions of this song. the spoken part is a little bit different in the other version that i have, but i like this version better so this is the one that i posted.
also, if anyone can figure out what he says between "even in health.." and "..in eachother's arms, they're wasting away" please post it here.. thanks. =)
it sounds like hes saying "i've been charged with these charms, in each other's arms..."
or "charred"
where is this song from? I've never heard it and I have both there cd's
It sounds like he's saying "Sickened just as I am and crippled with disease." as opposed to "crippled just as I am and dripping with disease." eh, I don't know.
It's from their "I never said that I was brave" Ep. Only a few were released. This cd is my favorite of theirs by far. I love the sound of his voice in their older stuff, but the lyrics just keep getting better and better.
Hm, sorry guys, my first posting of these lyrics was pretty unfortunate. It took me 4 years to get back here, but I think it's all fixed now.
...and there aren't 2 versions of this song. I think the "other version" was just a really crappy mp3.
can't you like remove the Fixed from teh title it looks mega stupid, and there is no need for it at all. We're glad you fixed it that is all we need to know.
