Jynx me something crazy
Thinkin' if it's three then
I'm as smooth as the skin rolls across the small of your back
It's too bad it's not my style if you need me
I'm out and on the parkway patient and waiting for headlights
Dressed in a fashion that's fitting to the inconsistencies of my moods
It's times like these where silence means everything and no one is to know about this
It's times like these where silence means everything (so no one is to know about this)

It's a campaign of distraction (distraction)
Revisionist history, oh (and revisionist history)

It's a shame I don't think that they'll notice
It's a shame I doubt they even care
No one is to know about this
It's a shame I don't think that they'll notice
It's a shame I doubt they even care
Don't let me down

But whatever I have been gettin' myself into lately
Has been slicing inches from my waist
It's my face vs. the bottle (and thank God you weren't there)
And that's how bad could this hurt
Against I won't feel a thing (and thank God you weren't there)
I tell you all about
It's just not working out (to watch me hit bottom)
Not working out

It's a campaign of distraction (distraction)
Revisionist history, oh (and revisionist history)

It's a shame I don't think that they'll notice
It's a shame I doubt they even care
No one is to know about this
It's a shame I don't think that they'll notice
It's a shame I doubt they even care
No one is to know about this
Don't let me down

Better than
This is we why (we why)
We were taught so much better than this (so much better)
This is going anywhere (than this)
We like to rewind (better)
We were taught so much (so much better)
Better than, better than this (better than this!)

This is what livin' like this does
This is what livin' like this does
This is what livin' like this does (like)
This is what livin' like this does (this)
This is what livin' like this does (livin' like this)
This is what livin' like this does (livin' like this)
This is what livin' like this does (livin' like this)
This is what livin' like this does (livin' like this)
This is what livin' like this does

This song is clearly about an affair. "Ghost man on third" - He is the third man.

"Thinkin' if it's three then I'm as smooth as the skin rolls across the small of your back It's too bad it's not my style"

He is good at hiding it, smooth even, but it's not what he wants.

"It's times like these where silence means everything And no one is to know about this". She is not willing to break it to her partner. He feels trapped, like the loose end, but won't interfere with her relationship because he doesn't want to see her hurt.

"It's a shame I don't think that they'll notice" He's referring to the nature of his silence, he can't talk about the affair but it's having a negative effect on him. He can't ask for help without explaining the circumstances. He has to act normal, so no one notices what's happening to him.

"It's a campaign of distraction and revisionist history" This is possibly a reference to the nature of their relationship. He has to keep her boyfriend distracted in order to see her. Revisionist history might refer to his ever changing morals in the situation.

"But whatever I have gettin' myself into...not workin' out". This refers to how he is dealing with the problem, he's frustrated that girl he loves is with another man and it's causing him to drink excessively, it's also causing him to lose weight, possibly from stress.

"Don't let me down". He's hoping that it's all worth it, that she'll leave her boyfriend for him.

"This is why we were taught so much better than this This is what living like this does" He's reflecting on why he was always taught that this behavior was unacceptable, he's learning why.

    Hope that helps. Cheers.

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Techno Ted

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

The Night We Met

This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
