Real Situation Lyrics

Check out the real situation
Nation war against nation
Where did it all begin, when will it end
Well it seems like the total destruction
The only solution
And there ain't no use
No one can stop them now
Ain't no use nobody can stop them now

Give them an inch they take a yard
Give them a yard they take a mile
Once a man and twice a child
And everything is just for a while
It seems like total destruction
The only solution
And there ain't no use
No one can stop them now
Ain't no use no one can stop them now
Ain't no use no one can stop them now
Ain't no use no one can stop them now

Check in the real situation
Check it out, check it out
Nation fight against nation
Where did it all begin, where will it end
Well it seems like the total destruction
The only solution
No use can't stop them
Ain't no use can't stop them
Ain't no use no one can't stop them now
Can't stop them now
Ain't no use no one can't stop them now
Ain't no use you even try
Ain't no use got to say bye bye
Ain't no use no one can stop them now
No one can stop them now

Cover art for Real Situation lyrics by Bob Marley and the Wailers

this is off the "uprising" album. Bob Marley was very close to death at this point. Came out in 1980 , he went in 1981. This song, it seems, is a proclamation. "My whole career I put out songs about fighting against the oppression and now on the eve of my death i see 'It seems like total destruction The only solution And there ain't no use No one can stop them now"....its almost a "live your life, dont spend your time fighting a war you cant win"

The rest of the uprising album is generally positive and supportive of people fighting for freedom and justice. Do you think this song is based off some of his fears or did he actually think that he wasted his life fighting for an impossible cause.

Well, to me this is definitely one way to interpret the lyrics. To me the lyrics, beneath the happy, have a nice day organ music, are extremely sinister. I interpret them as having the meaning of one giant war, nation against nation, unleashing their nuclear power. "Total destruction is the only solution","Ain't no use, no one can stop them now".

Anyone else notice the hesitation when he says "give them an inch, they take a........... yard"? :)

@onomatopoeia I think it's great! It's really awesome when musicians leave in their mistakes. It humanizes them.

This is the most depressing song in history. Made all the more so because it's true.
