I Was In The Air Lyrics
Birds of every wing shall dwell within.
Birds of every wing shall dwell within.
Who raised high the lowest tree?
Who raised high the lowest tree?
Birds of every wing shall dwell within.
This far will you come but no more.
This far will you come but no more.
Who holds back the raging sea?
Who keeps trouble far from me?
This far will you come but no more.
I was in the air and you were there.
I was in the air and you were there.
Like my mother at the fair.
Like my father at the fair.
I was in the air and you were there.
Birds of every wing shall dwell within.
Who raised high the lowest tree?
Who raised high the lowest tree?
Birds of every wing shall dwell within.
This far will you come but no more.
Who holds back the raging sea?
Who keeps trouble far from me?
This far will you come but no more.
I was in the air and you were there.
Like my mother at the fair.
Like my father at the fair.
I was in the air and you were there.

beautiful song. wow. leaves me speechless.
anyone have any thoughts about the meaning behind this?
It's a lovely song. The first two verses are definite biblical references (see Ezekiel 17:23 and Jeremiah 5:22, respectively). In each case, the answer to the question is God. I can't think of a reference for the last verse, but it makes a fair amount of sense with that context.
Dotjerkey is right.
This far will you come . . . Who holds back . . . Those are from the Book of Job.
