If I go out in the morning snow
in my pajamas and my winter coat
and take from the house our darker thoughts
and take away the memory of loss
and if I drop them into the snow
will we never find them anymore?

Too see him, to see him
happy
Too see him, to see him
happy

In the same field where we have stood
to see your brother fly away in the spring
In the light moon, silver plane
now the snow covers everything
I think we will be made clean like the snow
I think we will become new like the snow

Too see him, to see him
happy
Too see him, to see him
happy

Some winters are harder than others
we are going to take our cameras
and look thru wide black trees with empty arms
and sled tracks wandering as we are

Too see him, to see him
happy
Too see him, to see him
happy

Alight I wait and raining in my heart..

General Commentthis song makes me think of cold winters and being unable to sleep, staring up at the ceiling. one of my favorite songs ever. there's a cautious hope i can relate to a lot.

General CommentAh, yes, this song is amazing. I love the way the drums work with her singing, and the piano is top notch. I can't find chords ANYWHERE though, so I'm going to try to tab them out myself. I must play this song, just for the experience. Rarely can I create such wonderful sound.

For some reason it reminds me of Charlie Brown's Christmas, or whatever that movie was called. Probably the piano again.

General CommentI can see Karen (assuming it's her) as a little girl outside in the snow.

I wonder if that's her on the album cover? (front, not back, as I'm sure that's her on the back)

My InterpretationA song about tragic loss but also about the longing for absolution and the strength to move past tragedy. It's one of the saddest songs by Karen & Don but even in the context of loss, Karen sings wonderfully about the possibility of hope. Anyone who has seen Karen & Don live can attest to their amazing, lovely ability to convey subtle emotions beautifully. A testament to their song writing and Karen's beautiful voice. More people should hear them.

General CommentI was so surprised to see that others felt the same way about this song as i do. This song has haunted me for almost 2 decades. Our family shares the love for this song. It has a special meaning to us, both for the loss of our mother suddenly, and the abuse we endured as children for years from our father. Maybe the snow could really cover everything?

General CommentThis just breaks my heart in two, over and over, but it is the most poignant, beautiful poetry. Beautiful xx
