i thought it was like another reference to the albums'(Around the Fur) theme of vain women. I think he's pissed off and disgusted about how how girls care more about they glamor and appearence then about havinga good personality. They become shallow and start to wear out their welcome whereever they go, just flirting and leeching on to whatever guy who will give them what they want. These kinds of girls are indeed boring, and very sloppy, only interested in debauchery.Im a dude, so i know exactly what hes talking about casue i see and meet these types of women all the time, and they are all the same.Eventually, they get to the pooint where they arent as attractive as they once were, due to all the excesses they indulge in. I think hes saying hes so sick and tired of meeting those kinds of women, and hes telling them that what their doing isnt beautyful or glamorous, but just plain fucking gross. hes telling them to "find their own heart",or hop off the train", or find soemthing that has meaning and legitmacy in their lives instead of chasing money and sex. The tittle lotion to me seems to fit, cause its like an instrument of making yourself beautiful and young looking.
I think this may have alot to do with certain bands that are toned aggressively 100% of the time, while bands like the deftones can go from hard rocking to mellow and sensual. I'm sure they have been dissed a time or two by one of these bands and this is a big 'fuck you' to anyone who has a problem with their style. The song has a very aggressive style that mellows out during the chorus where Chino preaches "but it's classical, anyways" which makes even more sense to me.
I'm not sure but since there are few other comments on this song, i felt i might as well share mine with you. I think it's about chino dissing certain bands who aren't for real. With "adrenaline" deftones had developed a sound of their own, some other bands probably tried to benefit from deftones' succes by copying their sound or commercialising it. On their second album chino shows his opinion about these "fucking slobs"
by the way. to add to what i said, the title 'lotion' could be a reference to smoothing out rough skin.
I always thought it was about their ol buddies Korn and Limp Bizkits since both of them ended up selling out so they would be more mtv friendly, that's just me though.
I think it's about both, and probably written that way on purpose. It's about selling out ---- but from both a music business side and the theme of Around the Fur.

it grew on me, too... i never really noticed this song before, but one day it came on, and i was just like "wow! how come its never sounded like THAT before?" Its been sounding pretty good since that enlightenment.
