I don't want to talk to you anymore
I'm afraid of what I might say
I bite my tongue every time you come around
'Cause blood in my mouth beats blood on the ground
Oh, oh, yeah, ooh

Hand over my heart, I swear I've tried
Everything I could within all my power
Two weeks and one hour, I slaved
And now I've got nothing to show
Oh, if only you'd grow taller than a brick wall
From now on, I'm going to start holding my breath
When you come around and you flex that fake grin
'Cause something inside me has said more than twice
That breathing less air beats breathing you in, oh

I don't want to talk to you anymore
I'm afraid of what I might say
I bite my tongue every time you come around
'Cause blood in my mouth beats blood on the ground
Oh, ooh

Hand over my mouth, I'm earning the right to my silence
In quiet, discerning between ego and timing
Good judgment is once again proving to me
That it's still worth its weight in gold
From now on, I'm gonna be so much more wary
When you start to speak and my warm blood starts to boil
Seeing you is like pulling teeth
And hearing your voice is like chewing tin foil
Oh, yeah

I don't want to talk to you anymore
I'm afraid of what I might say
I bite my tongue every time you come around
'Cause blood in my mouth beats blood on the ground
Oh, oh, ooh, yeah, ha

High fives to better judgment
By saying less today, I will gain more, gain more
Low twos to you, my, my fickle friend, yeah
You've brought the art of silent war

I don't want to talk to you anymore
I'm afraid of what I might say
I bite my tongue every time you come around
'Cause blood in my mouth beats blood on the ground
Oh, oh, yeah

during a very large fight with a friend, i got the incubus morning view cd, and i was already a bit fan of science and make yourself. i listened to this song, and didn't like it. then i listened to the lyrics, and i love it. i reckon this song is about a person who's been betrayed by someone, a friend/lover, and now both of them are simply acting politely to eachother despite how they feel. i have never heard anything as descriptive as "seeing you is like pulling teeth, and hearing your voice is like chewing tin fooooil". i mean, damn that's good writing, and it happened to pick exactly how i felt. i love this song. it's some good incubus, mainly with such brilliant lyrics.

i think its kind of ironic how 11am comes b4 this song on the cd. in 11am brandon sings about how much he misses his love and that he wishes he could have her back, its so sweet. then this song comes on and it goes on about how much he hates someone.....i just thought that was weird.

This song reminds me of working at a sh itty job, and having to bite your tongue around your superiors, even though there's so much you really want to say. At least that's what it makes me think of.

"Hand over my heart I swear I've tried everything I could Within all my power two weeks and one hour I slaved and now I've got nothing to show"

He slaved for two weeks and now he's got nothing to show for it. Definately reminds me of my job, lol. I'm not sure if this song is about a girl. Could be though.

When the band recorded this album, they all lived together.(they were even on MTV Cribs) It was no secret that Brandon and the then-bass-player for incubus had stopped getting along. i would be willing to bet it is written about Alex, but was left opened for your own personal interpretation on purpose. Brandon was trying to bite his tongue, as to not break up the band. (And of course, Alex was eventually replaced by Ben Kenney.)

the first time i heard this song was at a time in my life where i wasn't happy about a recent break-up, and everyone hated me for being 'childish' or whatever.

i felt like no one understood me, until i heard this song and it described exactly how i felt.

then i felt like there were cameras watching me and writing songs about my misfortune. i wasn't that much happier really, but hey, it's got a good beat.

i think this song is about him so eagar to please one person, but everytime he tries he ends up making a fool of himself. he feels its better to bite his tounge and hide the embarrasment than to let it be shown.(kinda like hiding blood in his mouth, rather than bleeding on the ground)....he has all of this pain inside and this song is letting it out for him because he chose not to "bleed on the ground".....n e wayz thats just what i think......

I think this song is about him (or whoever) and and ex (who he still feels something for) that fight all the time, and he'd rather not, so when she around he just shuts up (the art of silent war) and bites his tongue (blood in his mouth), because he'd rather not have his eyes scratched out or anything (blood on the ground).

I haven't been a serious incubus fan for too long but I do have all their albums and what not and I think they are quite possibly the most amazingly awsome band ever. Anyway I think this song shows a couple things that are characteristic of alotta their music. One is contrast. Just listen to the variation in the music between the chorus and the verses.

I think this song is about an ex-girlfriends new guy, he does'nt want to say anything just incase he says something bad and so Blood would be on the ground!

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
