I thought that you were joking
When you said you couldn't breathe
You said you couldn't breathe
Turns out that you were choking
On a town you couldn't leave
You knew you'd never leave
It met your disapproval at the age of 8 years old
You were only 8 years old
From then on there was no removal
From that one way dead end road
That one way dead end road

I thought that you were laughing
When you cried your eyeballs out
You cried your eyeballs out
And i don't mean to be prying
But what were you so sad about
What are you still sad about
Met your disappointment at the age of 9 years old
You were only 9 years old
From then on there would be no ointment
To take away these burns
To make that pain grow dull and forever ain't that long
When your smile's stuck in your head like a pop song
All you think about is death
Your dirty head has gone unswept for way too long now
For way too long now

I thought that you were sleeping
When i found you there in bed
I found you there in bed
When i touched you you were freezing
It turned out that you were dead
It turned out that you were dead
It met your disapproval at the age of 8 years old
You were only 8 years old
From then on there was no removal
From your fucked up head and your broken home and forever ain't that long
When your smile's stuck in your head like a pop song
All you think about is death
Your dirty head has gone unswept for way too long now
For way too long now
For way too long now
For way too long now

this is a great song and alk 3 is a great band. and it's pretty sad that just because they are on mtv a few times that people who used to love them just stop liking them because 'it's the cool thing to do.' if youre really that low...then they are too good for the likings of you anyway.

i heard this song when i bought "Living Tomorrow Today...A Benefit for Ty Cambra" and immediately, i loved it. of course, i love EVERY alk3 song, but the lyrics to this one were especially good the first time through. any emo fan should definitely check these guys out, b/c although they may seem a little more rough around the edges, the lyrics are so awesome.

I can relate to this song alot actuly, i live in my grand parents old house with my famly. i moved here when i was like 7 and a half. i realized that life sucks at around age 8 or maybe like 9... anyway! the house is on a dead end street in a boring little town. im never going to leave cause... like everything i have ever known was in this town and like all my famly lives in this town. i have like a fucked up head, for no reason, i just hate myself and my life. and i have trye to kill myself SO manny times. i have like stoped now cause i realise how mutch i mean to some people. but im still all depressed and shit. and ill never be "not depressed" but i guess i can live with that, i dont have mutch of a choice.

this song might be about how someone that likes to be sad and depressed, and they how they have a shitty little life, and in the end they couldnt' pull through, and that person eventually dies, and that person went unnotice.

alkaline trio sold out! now there gonna be anouther band on TRL or MTV too. The video sucked . there probly gonna tour with like blink, jimmy, saves, dashboard,o yeah not saves the day cause they broke up and i hope thats why alkaline trio sold out. so its the end folks. alkaline trio went aginst everything that i thought they beleved in . and became a group of pozers .insted of a kick ass underground punk rock band. for nothing ex money. I hope if i go to a alkaline trio show that i flip out and kill like all the pozer alkaline trio fans .by creating a giant pit with the help of the other true alkaline tiro fans.and if i watch the video for stupid kid one more time then id probly throw alkline trio in the pit to. just to kick the mainstream out of them . break there fingers so they cant play for awile let them think it over alittle . well to the rest of you that read this ask urself one question did you think that even if alkaline trio went mainstream(witch you probly didnt)that they would have a video like the pile of steamy shit that they put on MTV.I dont even think i can watch it agin id indanger my computer. Wow Kiddo.. Calm yourself down a little bit. Don't give it all up for one song, and not to mention Alkaline Trio did go on tour with Blink182, but obviously since you are SUCH an Alk3 fan and all of you could have guessed that. I mean heaven forbid, since a good band, comes out with a video, they play it on MTV, and here all these Kids swoon over them, and kiss their ass, doesn't mean that in one heart beat they would ever fucking forget their first fans. If anything, I can say for one, that they fucking change their sound with every damn new member they receive in their band. So why in God's name is that any different? Ever heard of The Get Up Kids? Where did they start off? Kansas? Or so I'd like to think, do you like them? Maybe? If that is a Yes, what about the kids that were there in the beginning? Any clue? Sure, they still fucking love them more then anything. I hope I stand either next to, behind, or in front of any other person reading this, and say, that Alkaline Trio will always be Alkaline Trio. Just because one day a song of theirs will be played over the radio waves, and their video played on MTV, and they sell out a show in Chicago making millions of dollars for a single show, that they will always be Chicago, and they will always kick ass... I'm hoping no one is taking offense to this, but let me tell you, when you ream out a band such as them, you deserve everything I just said. Learn to keep your mouth shut Kid, and then maybe you'll be noticed for good things.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
