Al said goodbye to his mom and dad
for the first time in his life.
Tonight, he left the house and
walked to the waiting car outside.
Yeah, somehow he thought they'd never understand.
That nothing lasts, and he just knows that time,
is just spinning by, and life, is passing him by so fast.

And sometimes I think,
I'm the only one who feels
Like going nowhere's
Like giving up.
Sometimes I think,
I'm the only one who feels like going.

Al said to me a few days ago that he just thought
For the first time in his life.
He feels that the last few years
Were only a waste of time (only a waste of time)
Yes, it was always a compromise,
Of what he always felt inside.
His declaration,
Under the orange street light.

And sometimes I think,
I'm the only one who feels
Like going nowhere's
Like giving up.
Sometimes I think,
I'm the only one who feels like going.
Yeah-ah.

He was the one,
Who always did the right things.
He was the one who would always
Listen to everything they say.
But today, he's never going back. (Whoa-oh-oh)

And nobody said,
That there would be days like these,
There'd be days like these,
There'd be days

And sometimes I think,
I'm the only one who feels
Like going nowhere's
Like giving up.
Sometimes I think,
I'm the only one who feels
Like going nowhere's
Like giving up.
Whoa-oh,
Like giving up.
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
Like giving up.
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
I'm not giving up.
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh.

Dont feel bad admitting it makes you cry...i am exactly the same. The emotion put forth behind this song is greater than usual with these bunch of tweakers we love so much. There is only one song with more meaning to me behind it....and that would have to be "Look What Happened" Check out the posts on that for the reasoning.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
