2 Wicky Lyrics
This is the flight number of our galactic sun
Prophet 60091
Before we start you should know that you're not the only one
Who can hurt me
This is the serial number of our orbital gun
SH10151
You better be sure before you leave me for another one
You can hurt me
I can hurt you
You can hurt me
I can hurt you
But you better be sure before you leave me for another one
You can hurt me
But you better be sure before you leave me for another one
they could be referring to the prophet-600 and the sh-101 synthesizers. makes sense because these synths have a lot of knobs - wicky wicky!
I thought the same thing, actually... but I don't see how vintage analog synthesizers fit in with the lyrics. :P

Yep definitely synths. Roland SH1/SH101 as well as the Prophet 6. Wicky wicky indeed!

Why do they fit -- strange complicated machinery with lots of knobs. The chosen weapon of synthstrumentalists. It doesn't take anything away from the song, in fact it adds alot of depth and context.

Maybe the author was having to ditch their old Roland SH101 for a new Prophet 6, and was having mixed feelings about it.

@topas The simple poetry enmeshed in double/triple entendres (and how ever many more you want to creatively conceive), combined with the beat, and the fact it's sampled in one of my favourite rap tracks; I Can't Go To Sleep by Wu Tang Clang, makes this a beautiful creation.

And this is why I love Songmeanings; it totally enables lovers of music to expand their joy of their favourite music, at times effortlessly - such as this time thanks to your comment, and other times with a little digging through comments.

Prophet 600, SH-101 - the iteration and 'progression' of music. You, the creative, want to look at it like a progression, the breaking of a new day, a love for the exploration of love itself, but to the instrument it's a painful betrayal of the relationship you built up. Prophet 600 may seem like a lightswitch moment, apparently, but SH-101 was the last thing your fans were spinning as your sound, perhaps the thing that got people orbiting your sphere of presence in the first place, and has every real opportunity to kill your future - wicky wicky, as you say. Passion does not always amount to success. Moreover, better be sure you're in step with your fans if you wanna talk in (our) collectives because they, as much as your instruments, have the power to determine your ascension or downfall.
Realistically, however, music at it's depths is a constantly flowing state of change. From the beginning of it's birth to last days end it will have never stopped moving forward, evolving, iterating. And to keep up with the times, to pursue your passion etc. so must you, sacrificing your lifesblood to an undying hunger. Life is bitter-sweet in so many ways, all you can do is keep moving forward. Walk on.
I love this song.
At first, I thought it was about a woman that's getting romantically involved with with a man she just met, and was expressing her fears about getting burned in this very new relationship.
I was just now googling for SH10151 to see what that's about, and someone created a t-shirt with a orbital gun and the serial number. (http://www.zazzle.com/orbital_gun_sh10151_tshirt-235211347593632875)
That made me wonder if this song is about Mutual Assured Destruction.
Prophet 60091: could be a flight number for a space rocket that is going to fire the orbital gun into orbit.
"Before we start you should know that you're not the only one" She's a country or ambassador and is about to start some kind of defence treaty meeting. Other parties to the meeting have powerful weapons.
"Who can hurt me" But wants to show weakness, and that will be willing to make concessions for the treaty to work.
"SH10151, This is the serial number of our orbital gun" could be referring to a powerful devastating weapon, and other parties are aware of the destructive power of it.
"You better be sure before you leave me for another one" If the other parties in the treaty want to abandon it, they really better be ready for the consequences.... because.....
"You can hurt me I can hurt you You can hurt me" -- the consequences will be MAD (mutually assured destruction).
Bingo.
Bingo.
As well, it's best to realize profit/prophet is likely an intentional play on words ;)

I don't get it... Maybe she's fighting with some guy while watching Battlestar Galactica.
Um, if 60091 was discovered in '99, then this song has nothing to do with that discovery. This song was recorded 4 years earlier.
The main riff is sampled from a cover by Isaac Hayes of "Walk On By", a song composed by Burt Bacharach, with lyrics by Hal David. In that song the major overtone is love lost/broken heart. I think the references to the Prophet-600 and SH-10151 in the Hooverphonic version are just shut outs to how the Isaac Hayes track was recorded, capturing one of the most soulful rifts ever and expanding on it with galactic imagery, both songs are wonderful
Seeing as I heard the band named the albun (Blue Wonder Power Milk) because the words sounded cool together, and because they are Belgian and might not know much English, I often think their songs don't mean much of anything and are just words put together to sound cool. I love their music, but as much as I try to get the "hidden meaning" in their songs, I just think they often put words together for their sound...which is okay.

Yes Hooverphonic is Belgian and English is not their first language. But they DO know much English... hence the fact that all their music is written in English.
I don't know the meaning behind the song, but Hooverphonic has been known for a lot of wordplay in their songs so I'm sure there is one in there.
Such a hot song.
It refers to the Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 and Roland SH-101 synthesizers , both awesome vintage analog synths ! Hearing a a beautiful girl sing about synths is pretty amazing ;-)
In the 1999 PC strategy game "Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun", there was a model of orbital ion cannon called SH10151. I guess this explains the "This is the serial number of our orbital gun"
I forgot! in the same game (Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun), mission 6 is called "To kill a prophet". Overall I think the whole song is about this PC game
