What about sunrise
What about rain
What about all the things that you said
We were to gain
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said were yours and mine
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we've shed before
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying Earth, these weeping shores
Aah, ooh
What have we done to the world
Look what we've done
What about all the peace
That you pledge your only son
What about flowering fields
Is there a time
What about all the dreams
That you said was yours and mine
Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying earth, these weeping shores
Aah, ooh
Aah, ooh
I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don't know where we are
Although I know we've drifted far
Aah, ooh
Aah, ooh
Aah, ooh
Aah, ooh
Hey, what about yesterday
(What about us)
What about the seas
(What about us)
The heavens are falling down
(What about us)
I can't even breathe
(What about us)
What about apathy
(What about us)
Drowning in the seas
(What about us)
What about the promised land
Preachin' what I believe
(What about us)
What about the holy land
(What about it)
What about the greed
(What about us)
Where did we go wrong
Someone tell me why
(What about us)
What about baby boy
(What about him)
What about the days
(What about us)
What about all their joy
Do we give a damn
Aah, ooh
Aah, ooh
What about rain
What about all the things that you said
We were to gain
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said were yours and mine

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
if michael jackson cares so much about saving the planet, exactly why did he spend so much money on an enormous extravagant ranch where he had his own private amusement park, and ironically his own private zoo where he not only kept captive but actually neglected to bother caring for the very animals he claims to want to save?
and i cant help but wonder where casual anti-semitism and seducing underage boys with pornography and alcohol fit into michael's utopian aspirations for the world.
I think that's very innacurate.
He gave over $300million to charity - no other artist has beaten that record.
He used his theme park to enlighten sick children - so he did care.
What makes you thnk he didn't care for (his) animals? You can see he always kept animals and loved animals because animals don't judge you. What about "Ben" and the rats he kept as a kid? Muscles, the snake? Louie the llama? He had keepers in his ranch too for the animals.

I think Michaels comments on some Jewish people were spoken from his own experience and his fustration. Don't pretend you haven't heard people say things and generalise Oh 'black people this..White people that...Asian people something else...' Its clear a lot of people spent their lives taking advantage of MJ and it may so happen some were Jewish. I don't think he hates Jewish people. Saying that I do not defend racism, anti-semetism or sectarianism.
Penultimately, Michael Jackson was not evil and was not a criminal. And that is also according to the justice system (even after his unfair trial, IMO).
Finally I think most people want the world to be a better place.
I'm sorry, but I just can't believe your ignorance and stupidity.

Firstly, you do not know this man. How can you accuse a human being of such things when you know absolutely nothing about them, and the only things you do know are from the media. If the media always told the truth, they would not sell stories. Tell me this, if you had been accused of these things wrongfully and the media was portraying you to be a monster, wouldn't you think that was an incredible injustice? Consider the fact that he might be innocent and stop making serious accusations with no evidence whatsoever.

Secondly, as the last persopn just said, Michael gave MILLIONS to charity and is in the Guiness World Records for most money given to charities from a pop star. Yes, he bought himself Neverland, and he brought in busloads of kids free of charge. What other celebrity has ever done anything of the sort? NO ONE.

To 'LuluLovesYouMore' and 'Marina89':
How can you think that patobrien is more ignorant than yourself, or me (though im trying)?
Unless you know MJ personally you have no more reason to be protective! MJ might be a nasty guy (I like MJ's starpersona, but you've got to keep all posibilities open if you don't wanna be manipulated the rest of your lives.)
I mean if you guys know nothing more than i you cannot choose side! This song is about the minds acids. Not thinking is one of them!

If you don't think very carefully about everything you do, you are just a drop en the sea. Now if you wanna change anything you wanna be a fish, and think about your actions and thoughts..
But don't be too sure, it's the same really, just opposite.

I hope you get it, I don't but it's something like think before you speak, act and everything else. Give joy and enjoy like seeding and harvesting.

God (or whatever), i dont hope this sounds stupid, but you get the point..
You are so ignorant. The reason behind building Neverland was for sick children. He loved kids. He didn't have a very good childhood, so he wanted to give kids a good one. He wasn't a bad person. He was a great man, one of the best. But unfortunately people like you misunderstand him. You're saying that MJ molested children, and I'm not going to lie. It does look like that, but just think about this. If he had molested Jordan, than don't you think Evan would want him in prison? He wouldn't want money from Michael. They were after nothing more than money. Evan Chandler was clearly a very sick man. He did kill himself, you know? So before you go off making your hateful remarks and comments, make sure you've read between the lines. And have listened to what he has to say and not just the media. Michael Jackson is and will remain, a very confusing person. Understanding him is a very difficult thing to do and so I'm not saying I do completely understand him. But I do know for FACT that he never harmed any children. He was only guilty of loving children. And for this, he is dead. The media and people from all over the world put so much stress on him. He was a sensitive person and it began to be too much, so he turned to pills for comfort. So good job, now he is gone and will never return. At least he brought some sense of hope and awakening to some people. Unfortunately not to all.
