Mr. Me Lyrics

Once a boy named Mister Me bemoaned a great regret:
"I've floundered in the misty sea, but can't abide its mystery,
I wound up sad, you bet"
So onward go and Edward Ho into the bounding main
Enjoy the show look out below but mind the misty sea
Or end up sad like Mister Me
He ended up sad He ended up sad
He ended up really, really, really sad
So take the hand of Mister Me and mister, make him glad
To swim the Mister Misty Sea and cease the Mister Mystery
That mister, made him sad

I love this song. When my younger brother was two or three, h used to say things were "sad" when he didn't like them. That's what this song reminds me of with the "He ended up really, really, really sad."

This song is just Mr. cool. I mean, I challenge anyone to provide a better Mr. sea shanty-esque song.

I always thought this song was about a hippy type who did drugs to get closer to the collective unconscious, thinking it would bring him deeper understanding of the mind.

So he dove in (did alot of drugs) but realized that he didn't gain any deep understanding, and the misty sea was too deep and vast for him to explore it all.

So he'd wasted his time and he got depressed knowing that he'd never gain the deep understanding he expected.

My Interpretation

"enjoy the show, look out below, but mind the misty sea" is a warning.

"Enjoy your trip, have your trippy thoughts, but don't fall in and make it your life"

Drugs being a boat that lets you explore the 'misty sea' and diving in being addiction or dependance.
