Skeletons Of Society Lyrics

Minutes seem like days
Since fire ruled the sky
The rich became the beggars
And the fools became the wise
Memories linger in my brain
Of burning from the acid rain
A pain I never have won

Nothing here remains
No future and no past
No one could foresee
The end that came so fast
Hear the prophet make his guess
That paradise lies to the west
So join his quest for the sun

Shades of death are all I see
Fragments of what used to be

The world slowly decays
Destruction fills my eyes
Harboring the image
Of a spiraling demise
Burning winds release their fury
Simulating judge and jury
Drfiting flurries of pain

Deafening silence reigns
As twilight fills the sky
Eventual supremacy
Daylight waits to die
Darkness always calls my name
A pawn in this recurring game
Humanity going insane

Shades of death are all I see
Fragments of what used to be

Minutes seem like days
Corrosion fills the sky
Morbid dreams of anarchy
Brought judgment in disguise
Memories linger in my brain
Life with nothing more to gain
Perpetual madness remains

Shades of death are all I see
Skeletons of society
Fragments of what used to be
Skeletons of society

6th and den 9th august 1945, Hiroshima, Nagasaki.

I could be wrong, but that's what came to my mind. Slayer is, in my opinion, quite real and not that philosophical. For example the song "Silent Scream" is based on a ultrasound video named "The Silent Scream" which shows an abortion. And the song "Mandatory Suicide" describes a war (pretty sure it's Vietnam war since flyswatter stakes (booby traps) are mentioned).

That's why I'd call Slayer real. If you know what I mean? I'm not the best to put my thoughts into letters. Also I must mention that I am pretty disconnected from fiction and distracting time consuming trash. I listen to podcasts and read books conserning medieval to present politics and history, the real brutal hardness of life and I'm very aware of this artificial system that is tightening around us.

Cheers.

My Interpretation

@einheri Silient If what you are reading and listening is propaganda you are doing yourself no favors.

This song is about a post nuclear war world in which they have to stay in direct sunlight or the nuclear winter will freeze them to death, "paradise lies to the west"

Scary time....

To back up Tommy's view,

"Burning winds release their fury Simulating judge and jury Drfiting flurries of pain"

Nuclear Fallout being carried by the wind, killing people. Also a good sounding song, guitar part is easy but none-the-less fun.

Never bothered to find out what it means, but a truly great song, some may scoff at the lack of speed, but true Slayer fans can still feel the intensity in Toms snarling voice. Great opening riff, great song.

For some reason, I was watching The Omen in theaters 2 days ago and this quote "When the Jews return to Zion / And a comet rips the sky / And the Holy Roman Empire rises, / Then You and I must die. / From the eternal sea he rises, / Creating armies on either shore, / Turning man against his brother / 'Til man exists no more. " appeared.

This quote kind of made me think of this song....oh well...
