Blood Red Lyrics

Peaceful confrontation meet war machine
Seizing all civil liberties
Honest ballotation among banshee
Spilling blood throughout humanity
You cannot hide the face of death
Oppression ruled by bloodshed
No disguise can deface evil
The massacre of innocent people

Deviated lies fear blinding in your eyes
Enforcing their truth through a gun
Aggressive discipline and barbaric control
Thousands of people cannot be wrong

You cannot hide the face of death
Oppression rules by bloodshed
No disguise can hide the evil
That stains the primitive sickle

Blood red

Growing opposition with words as ammunition
Expressions of life's liberties
Aggressive discipline and barbaric control
Spilling blood throughout humanity

Ya, gotta love that guitar riff. Also, the transition from War Ensemble to Blood Red is one my favourite moments on Seasons in the Abyss and one of the reasons why it is my favourite Slayer Album.

I completley agree with SuperSpamAway, but more generally this song is clearly about opression under communist dictatorship's. Firstly, the song is called "Blood Red", red being the colour of communism. Secondly, "No disguise can hide the evil, that stains the primitive sickle" references the Hammer and Sickle which were the symbols of the Soviet Union.

It can be about events at Tiananmen Square in 1989.

Sure it mention specific things:

im pretty sure its about Tiananmen Square in 1989..

Blood red, doesnt mean soviet union, the chinese flag is "blood red"

"Peaceful confrontation meet war machine Seizing all civil liberties"

  • most members of this protest/boycott were studends, kinda harmless... then, soldiers sent out to clean out the place with force....

"Deviated lies fear blinding in your eyes Enforcing their truth through a gun Aggressive discipline and barbaric control Thousands of people cannot be wrong" -the communistic regime was really strict, kinda similiar to the nazis,ss and all that other sicko crap... and thousands of people cant be wrong, here they mean, those people at Tiananmen Square, so the demonstration.

"No disguise can hide the evil That stains the primitive sickle "

  • means def. communism

not really more is to say i guess...should be clear enough....

ah yeh...SLAYER OWNS HELL !

It's about communism, fairly obvious. Probably specifically about Tienanmen Square, fits the timeline as well. This was right before the collapse of the USSR, too.

I actually think the "Thousands of people cannot be wrong" is actually sarcasm, intended to point out how oppressive a bunch of people can be, pushing their opinions on you, and believing that they are all right.

Anyways, bad ass song. It's one of the most underrate song on Seasons in the Abyss, probably because of how short it is. People aren't usually as in to shorter songs as they are longer ones.

the lyrics are typical slayer anti-politicism... i usually hate that (e.g. rockagainst bush - i want to shoot anyone involved with that particular pile of crap) but slayer can obviously pull it off

anyone else think this song is way underrated?

@roadkill15 My friend: I feel these lyrics are political. The lyrics do not advocate for the rejection or opposition to all forms of political engagement or involvement, which is the essence of anti-politicism. What do you think?

Dude Blood Red Kicks major major ass. It is so underrated. I noticed at a concert when it was played, not so much moshing went on. Kinda Weird.

I agree with Roadkill about the rock against Bush... I hate that but like he stated aswell, Slayer can make a political statement.

Either way this song doesn't get enough credit, besides an insane guitar riff the song is great.

Probobly because Slayer weren't trying to be "cool" by going against a particular figure, just the general idea of politically-condoned war and murder.

Its funny that one would think unveiling the evil of oppresion and the oppressors (ie Hitler, Stalin) as a political statement. I see it as more of a observation than statement; true none the less. Kick Ass Song. Slayer Rules All Hell!!!!!!!!!!!

Slayer songs hold diffrent meanings to different people, I think this is probably a song they wrote to suggest that theyre not nazis, due to "Angel of Death" critiscism, so I think they are probably writing an american point of view of ww2, and the pollitical oppression governments have held.

@capricorn I can do not understand why some people interpret "Angel of Death" as: We Slayer likes Nazi's ? "Sickening ways to achieve the holocaust". and "Rancid Angel of Death flying free." (the term "rancid" can also be used metaphorically to describe anything that has become disagreeable, offensive, or morally corrupt over time. For example, someone might describe certain beliefs or practices as rancid if they are considered outdated, intolerant, or harmful.). He got away with his harmful acts?
