This is about someone going to be sacrificed or perhaps exterminated, perhaps there on death row, enter the realm of the undead is the descension then the following lyrics are his times in the afterlife or hell or whatever
i think its about worshipping satan, but im not sure
Alot of Slayer songs from this time focused on topics like this. I see this as the normal transcendence from life to death, with the funeral taking place as the soul descends to 'hell'. Certainly seems that way.
I always thought this song was about someone being sacrficied to Satan and going to Helll and being granted powers for being loyal, though thats just me ;p
This is one of the most under-rated Slayer songs ever. This song is just INTENSELY brutal. It is the epitome of evil.
Lyrically, I always took this song the way HallelujahWink described. Mainly the part towards the end where the character in the song takes on new powers. However, I usually take "Satan" in any band's songs to be a metaphor for the "darker force" that ever human has inside themselves.
with some songs you have to see them in a broader way, this song could mean somone being sac'd to satan for power. or it could symbolizing a person giving up their humanity for emotionlessness and power of having no mercy to hold them back
Its so interesting to me how a band with such intelligent lyrics,has so many dumb listeners. This song is about a satanic sacrificial ritual, at which a virgin's life is given up as a sacrifice to satan.
