Zero Signal Lyrics

So withdrawn and feeling numb
Watching life come all undone
Growing fear, a human grace
A drowning mind in a dark embrace

My life
A disarray
And I
Fade away

I am down on my knees
Praying beyond belief
The silence deafens my ears
And welds the shackles
Onto my fears

Lost
All faith
Lost
All trust
Lost
All faith
Lost
All trust

So withdrawn and feeling numb
Watching life come all undone

My life
A disarray
And I
Fade away

I am down on my knees
Praying beyond belief
The silence deafens my ears
And welds the shackles
Onto my fears

I have lost all faith
I have lost all trust
A sordid mesh turning to dust
A sordid mesh turning to dust

I am lost
I am so numb
I am so numb
I am so numb
I am so numb
I am so numb
I am so numb

I think it's about prayer yielding no results. He's praying but all he gets in response is "silence." The silence "welds the shackles to his fears" because he feels alone and does not feel that there is a supreme being looking out for him. This realization scares him. I think the first verse is describing events in his life that led him to prayer. Everything's falling down around him so he turns to God for help. But in the end, he sees no results and thus he has "lost all faith." The title of "Zero Signal" is likely a reference to what he feels that he is receiving from the heavens: nothing.

Best Fear Factory Song Ever! My personal Favorite. The song explains the "Disconnect" we have with God sometimes, and are ability to believe in things to be made right beyond the current circumstances we see, and our faith when God doesnt answer us right when we want thim to, or how we want him to, when we feel there is "Zero Signal" from the devine. One of the best songs in metal history. Herrera's technical arrangements behind the drums are at there best here!

Plus, in the Movie Mortal Kombat Johnny Cage & Scorpion beat the hell out of eachother to this song (literally). Cheers to Paul Anderson for using it in the movie. Awesome!

This is by far my favorite Fear Factory song ever. Holy shit when I was a kid I would listen to this on the Mortal combat soundtrack and it would scare the shit out of me haha. The drumming in this song proves that Herrera is the God of double bass. During the chorus (I am down on my knees etc.) listen to the double bass patterns. (triplet.double kick/snare then solid double bass) over and over. Iv'e been trying to play that on my drums for a year and I can barely get it. anyways enough of my rambling...I get too excited over this shit

fight the good fight

I've always thought that with the dramatic buildup and intro, seguing into the fast, powerful guitars, this would make excellent soundtrack music for an epic confrontation between two powerful opponents in a movie or video game (archenemy confrontation or end boss fight), with them warily circling each other, perhaps some sort of verbal exchange, then as it starts into the main guitar theme, the combat begins...
