New Way Home Lyrics
Have you found your way around the down and out?
I know it must seem long, so long
I'm still trying' to keep this time from runnin' out
Head down, always movin' on and on and on
I never heard this warnin'
Another early mornin' takes me, wakes me into
If you could manage me, I'll try to manage you
But lately it's all I ever do
I felt like this on my way home
I'm not scared
I pass boats and the Kingdome
I'm not scared
I'll never tell you the secrets I'm holdin'
I know these things must bore you
I can't find another way
I'll never tell you the secrets I'm holdin'
I love this leash that holds me
When I try to run away
I felt like this on my way home
I'm not scared,
I pass boats and the Kingdome
I'm not scared
I felt like this on my way home
I'm not scared
I pass boats and the Kingdome
I'm not scared
I felt like this on my way home
I'm not scared,
I pass boats and the Kingdome
I'm not scared
I felt like this on my way home
I'm not scared
I pass boats and the Kingdome
I'm not scared
I felt like this on my way home
I'm not scared,
I pass boats and the Kingdome
I'm not scared
I felt like this on my way home
I'm not scared
I pass boats and the Kingdome
I'm not scared

The Colour and The Shape is such a great album in general. When you think about it, it tells a story of someone growing stronger. It opens with "in all of the times that we've shared, I've never felt so scared," in Doll, and ends with "I'm not scared," in this song.
In Dave's words "this song is about winding your way through all these songs, through all the ups and downs, and realising that you're okay, and you're gonna make it." That's pretty much what it means to me. You've done the hard yards, now you're going home.
When I saw the Foos in Hyde Park (85000 people! Fucking incredible!), somebody had a banner that said: "I pass the boats and the kingdom? WTF!"
True story.
I have no idea what this song is about but it's one of the best on the album... I would say better than Everlong but lately the truth has been making me get my ass kicked.
I'm with the last guy! Whats so great about everlong anyway, the hooks in this song are so original and different, Grohl is the man!
Personally I like Everlong better, but this is probably my second favorite... I can really relate
Nah not as good as everlong... But a really god song sory emo
the sweetest song you'll ever hear. Especially the end
:D this be an awseome SONG!!! p.s. not as good as everlong but pretty damn close btw cheers for the meaning Arianrhod
I dunno what "I pass the boats and Kingdom" means....but whatever. Everlong is great and all, but there are a lot of better songs on "The Colour and Shape"--including this song, Monkey Wrench, and Wind Up;just and opinion.
@Foo Fighter KINGDOME, not Kingdom. The Kingdome was in Seattle, the sports arena was imploded in 2000. Dave had part interest in a studio in Seattle with Barrett Jones, besides having a residence there somewhere, so he was in the city often.
