Headlights Lyrics
Headlights
Highways
Your life collides with mine
Oh, your life collides with mine
Leavin' our shoes behind
We cross the water
Our words flow
From mouth to mouth, to mouth
Like fish seeking dark places
The misty, mist it covers, covers our traces covers our faces
Headlights
Highways
Your life collides with mine
Oh, your life collides with mine
We're steppin' into shelter
Movin' out of shadow
We made some wrong moves
Along the way
Oh we might have strayed
Will I forget your face
And your fluid gait
Or will I, will I stare into the stillness?
This is where I miss you
This is where I miss you
So long
To what's done
How come we've gone
So much time's been wasted
So many thoughts been lost on you
Headlights
Highways
Your life collides with mine
Cold wind rushes
Down on my face
Smoke heats the black throat
Of the chimney
The door is open
Come on inside...
Highways
Your life collides with mine
Oh, your life collides with mine
We cross the water
Our words flow
From mouth to mouth, to mouth
Like fish seeking dark places
The misty, mist it covers, covers our traces covers our faces
Highways
Your life collides with mine
Oh, your life collides with mine
Movin' out of shadow
We made some wrong moves
Along the way
Oh we might have strayed
Will I forget your face
And your fluid gait
Or will I, will I stare into the stillness?
This is where I miss you
This is where I miss you
So long
To what's done
How come we've gone
So much time's been wasted
So many thoughts been lost on you
Highways
Your life collides with mine
Down on my face
Smoke heats the black throat
Of the chimney
Come on inside...

Yeah, definitely about death. Leaving our shoes behind, crossing the water (the river Styx, perhaps?). The cold wind of the night air, and the smoke from the crash are mentioned, and he moves from shadow (either night, or the shadow-world that is life) and goes to a shelter (heaven, place of light?). "The door is open, come inside" might be God saying come on into heaven.
I get a very morbid sense from this song...
i love this song, it's one of 4 that i got off my friend's computer on the network at school, and i love it, and the other 3. i need to get more, but i'm having computer issues-- it won't let me download any right now.......
I love this song, I think it's about two people's lives colliding and getting to know each other and falling in love with them.. Not too sure though =) peace
I think this song is about a relationship...but not just falling in love...i think its about someone who lost love, or maybe they were separated by something uncontrollable..but the feelings are all still there
I think it's basically about serendipity. Them meeting by fortunate chance. And... it goes from there...
i think this is about two people letting their guard down and allowing themselves to fall in love........and then losing love......and "the door is open, come on inside" means that he wants to let her back in
losing the biggest love youve ever known.
I think it's about people meeting eachother by circumstance, but in this particular instance I think the circumstance is a car crash (not a big one, but maybe a fender bender or something) - I don't really know, but it seems kind of like it.
love that started by a car crash? how lucky can you get!
this song was written by pete and im pretty sure its about a friend of his that died in a car crash. if anyone knows the exact story that would be sweet. i love the imagery in this song and all of petes songs. final show was friggin awesome. cheers
