really surprised no one's commented on this one yet. i've loved helmet for a long time, but took a very clear listen to this song this morning and it brought me to tears.

first verse - i think everyone knows how this feels. you love someone a lot, they're slipping away - and all you can think about is what you can do to make them cooperate in a relationship. you ask all your friends what they think is up, you change yourself trying to accomodate them, but they just keep pushing you in the dirt. about the skin flaking, another allergy - his analogy is right on but true, he's so concerned with said girl's reaction to him, that if it doesn't make sense in her mind - he guesses it doesn't exist. he's so confused, that hes trying to shake everything keeping him from being himself. even his skin, if she wanted it.

not sure what the chorus means. crab maybe associating to cancer? an astrological reference, maybe? but as far as "infect the water" goes, i think this is a reference to their relationship (water) now infected by her uncooperation

"what was that? i thought i heard my name" - another reference to her just trying to get rid of him.

that's my two cents, a lot of it still doesnt make much sense. i'm starting to wonder if these are incorrect lyrics, but if anyone has anything to say about this - go for it. still kinda lost
