Picture this song as your life getting dark, you have seen/felt something terrifying, and it comes back every night and stopes you from sleeping. And that pain makes you cut yourself open, and that fact makes him beeing badly seen by his friends/family etc.. Never to any man I will spear. My speach it has no value
i think that starting at the second verse it's about dying, then he's like a ghost, and he wants toget taken away to the afterlife
maybe it means his life is become blinded... like, he has become numb in a way, unable to feel the emotions and such, does he miss the sun? (maybe the joys of life?) no, he says he is content with being just another blinded by life i guess thats what i got out of it at least my two cents PEACE!
I agree with xJotunx, this song is definetely about a man dying and living some horrible afterlife as a spectre.
I love the '99 version of this song. It's so much more aggressive, and yet more melodic. Reminds of System, somehow.
Its about being clad in the shadows and the way to break it is to scream silently and return to what you used to be.
At first I figured it was about dying, but the line:

Makes me think it's about sleep, or perhaps using sleep as a tool of escape.
