Dead Eternity Lyrics
You´ll never be alone again
You´ll never die again
You´ll never be born again
You´ll forever be, stuck here in eternity
I bid you welcome to my world
They call me existence
You have just entered through the gate
to your journey towards eternity
This part i control
In the beginning you´ll fear nothing
As I climb beside you
Time will be your master
in this laborious part of human subsistence
This part i control
Black clouds embraces your soul
Slowly passing through repeating lacunas of anguish
When time takes your life
I will transfer you into the bare grip of thinking twanquility
Voices frilling the emptiness of the dead floating
Seamless across the surface into chilling stillness
Nothing can help you now
You´ll never die again
You´ll never be born again
You´ll forever be, stuck here in eternity
They call me existence
You have just entered through the gate
to your journey towards eternity
As I climb beside you
Time will be your master
in this laborious part of human subsistence
Slowly passing through repeating lacunas of anguish
When time takes your life
I will transfer you into the bare grip of thinking twanquility
Voices frilling the emptiness of the dead floating
Seamless across the surface into chilling stillness
Nothing can help you now

This song may not be so godmade as I once thought. I used to believe it was just one of those "fun" songs about something evil which is meant to be taken as a joke. However, having bothered to read the lyrics I can see that it is not a "fun" song.
The speaker claims to be Existance, and it is uncertain if Existance is actually a being or just a state. I will refer to Existance as He to make it easier to understand. When Existance begins with, "You'll never be born again..." He could be talking about either human life after death, or which I believe is more accurate, human life once you are born. Existance is refering to all humans when He addresses "you". When you are born, you have just entered through the 'gates' of his world. In the beginning we are young, and fear nothing. But as we grow and time marches on, our lives become more difficult, or as some people mentioned above, Hell. In Flames views the quality of human life subsistent, or shitty. Lumping all of human life together would mean we are talking about our society. We preform laborious jobs our entire lives to hold our place in society. Over time we would feel the weight of time on our shoulders as we worked our lives away... just ask any factory worker.
So depression clouds your soul as time slowy hacks away your life. Now here is a very difficult concept to understand. When time takes your life, you die! Existance will take your soul and put you in an afterlife world where you can think about whatever you did during your life for the rest of eterinty. This afterworld seems to be bleak, perhaps they are making fun of Heaven, which would mean that the entire song is making fun of religion and Existance is God. If not then it is their own interpretation of what is to come after human death.
Either way, NOTHING CAN HELP YOU NOW!
I agree with Dray, but might I add a few things, I believe that In flames is speaking out against the thought of an afterlife in this song. Many people want an afterlife or eternal life and believe that it will make them happy. In flames is asking the question who would really want to live forever after all. We are all here now, and it wasnt our choice to be here, now we have to face an afterlife for eternity where we will never be able to completely live a real life again(never die again, never be alone again), which leaves us stuck in the hell of existing forever and nothing can help us now, not even ourselves.
this song is pretty easy to interpret.
"Youll never be alone again Youll never die again Youll never be born again Youll forever be, stuck here in eternity"
so basically, youre born, and you die. and thats it.
"I bid you welcome to my world They call me existence You have just entered through the gate to your journey towards eternity"
so right here, its talking through the perspective of existence, using personification. in this part, exisence is welcoming you, as if you were just born.
"This part i control
In the beginning youll fear nothing As I climb beside you Time will be your master in this laborious part of human subsistence"
in the beginning, youll fear nothing. when youre a kid, you dont really think about death, as it seems unreal, and when youre young, you kind of have this sense that youre invincible, because death seems so far off and distant. time is all of our masters, because once our time is up, we're gone.
"This part i control
Black clouds embraces your soul Slowly passing through repeating lacunas of anguish When time takes your life I will transfer you into the bare grip of thinking tranquility Voices frilling the emptiness of the dead floating Seamless across the surface into chilling stillness Nothing can help you now"
black clouds and repeating lacunas of anguish refer to the pain and suffering we will become accustomed to as we get older. when time takes our lives, it will transfer us into the bare grip of thinking tranquility, or non existence, as that is the only way to achieve true tranquility, because the dead cant feel pain, anxiety, etc. the chilling stillness describes the person when he/she is dead, still.
Godmade...
Well put powerbull.. one of the all-time best In Flames songs.
Godmade?? expand on that...i think this is about someone dying and entering into hell where his eternal soul will reside in un named anguish
This song rules so much..."In the beginning, you will fear nothing...as I climb beside you" Such an awesome song...
i dont know why the person would be goin to hell if "in the begining you'll fear nothing" i think its more along the lines of vampires and living forever. but i may be wrong
I agree with dray's view and raginglunatix's aswell. Also, this song has an amazing solo in it, truely awe inspiring
Either way this song is really deep!
You guys made some good points.
I think that they are refrring to purgatory just according to the last part "I will transfer you into the bare grip of thinking twanquility Voices frilling the emptiness of the dead floating Seamless across the surface into chilling stillness Nothing can help you now"
I think Lunar Strain/Subterranian were some of the best written songs but the production wasnt as great so many people dont really listen to those CDs.
